How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location- lockers provided - secure building
You trip over the first step inside the building as it’s dark. There is no tissue in the toilet, no towels provided or available for hire. The number of occupants is 90% male- so it can feel uncomfortable for women. One of the dorm rooms opened out on to a balcony area where there was constant cigarette smoke. The other dorm rooms- the balcony door would be shut by men multiple times- every-time I opened it to air out the room they would try to close it saying it’s to make it less noisy from the street. The men would then spray aftershave and deodorant in the dorm room then close the door to the room so that you suffocate in their body odour and sprays- before they go out for more partying. There were long term occupants who were staying for months who would bring in bin bags of clothes and move multiple suitcases around each day- they kept swapping bunks each day due to new dorm tenants coming in and out? The bathroom was left very dirty by previous occupants. It would be helpful to provide a bin in the bathroom and a bathroom mat and a mop so that the room isn’t so wet and slippery. The owner is speaks many languages are gives very helpful and useful local information.

Verified reviewSafe hostel with your own room. Host is super friendly and welcomes you with options around the city. Other guests were nice.
Common room has no immediate access to light so seems dark. Kitchen could be left with uncleaned dishes.

Verified reviewLocation - it is in the center and technically within the proximity of major landmarks The staff is ever ready to assist, with friendly behavior and accommodating.
The hostel is on the 5th floor and reachable only by climbing the stairs, so a big no for someone with heavy luggage.and it is not stated in the description. Room has no AC, not even electric fan, just a basic ventilation from the window, not soundproof and Unfortunately, i got disturbed by apathetic guests in who played his mobile and laptop with high volume sound in the living area instead of staying in his room. And worse, the 2 of them were both smoking (and the hostel is a non-smoking property)

Verified reviewVery close to the city center — actually, it feels like it’s right in the center. Mother Teresa Street is just around the corner. Supermarkets and restaurants are nearby. It felt safe, with many people walking around even late at night. The owner was very helpful. He explained how to go to other cities and how to check the bus schedules. There is a washing machine and space to hang clothes, and detergent is also available. There is a small, simple kitchen. There are lockers — they’re a bit small, but good enough for a laptop or tablet. A backpack won’t fit unless it’s very compact. There is a bus stop very close to the hostel. From the long-distance bus station, it takes about 30 minutes on foot (Google Maps shows a longer route, so I recommend using Maps.me for a shorter one). You might want to take a bus or taxi instead. The price was very reasonable.
The Wi-Fi speed was not very fast (12 Mbps when I measured it). It’s not really the hostel’s fault, but it’s located on an upper floor of a building and can be hard to find at first.Look for the sign with the hostel’s name on it!

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, but be sure to read their instructions on how to find them. They've got a sign on the 4th floor balcony. Enter the staircase below it, then push the "Hostel" button at the door. Walk up 4 flights of stairs... Great view. The couple of "social areas" are tight but comfortable. You can't get much cheaper, but this really is a situation where you get what you pay for.
I specifically asked for a non-smoking room. They confirmed there's no smoking inside the rooms, BUT failed to mention that smoking is allowed on the room's balcony. Most smokers don't bother closing the windows and doors, so it IS a smoking room. I get that it would be impossible to ask smokers to walk down 4 flights of stairs to smoke, but don't say it's a non-smoking room. While surfaces are wiped down, swept, and vacuumed daily, the apartment is really run down. The toilet room smells of sewage, and I was afraid to walk in without shoes. Don't even get me started on the kitchen, but this is more of a guest enforcement issue. My locker key was extremely difficult to operate. Beds can use curtains and a light. Honestly, I could endlessly pick this place apart. I almost never write bad reviews like this. I can handle almost anything, but this is certainly a hostel I won't visit again.

Verified reviewLocation.
Everytime the person in the Top bunk moved, so did the whole bunk itself , which kept me awake. Although non smoking room, people were allowed to smoke on the balcony, which made the non smoking room actually smoking. Pointless. And 1 toilet and bathroom isn't enough for the amount of people staying there.

Verified reviewThis home-like hostel has some advantages and some disadvantages. It is in the best area of the city. Everything is close to it and it is very cheap. But one of its disadvantages is that there is no special care for cleanliness. The bed sheet of the bed I got was old and not clean. And the light in the room was turned on and off at will. Which caused a lot of disturbance in my sleep.

Not a clean place. The bathroom was really dirty when I arrive. The kitchen was full of dishes when I arrive, could not even drink water. Depends of the guests if are clean or not, but to respect the common spaces, is a respect that comes from the management.
