How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewThis is my secomd time at Keedols and I just love the yummy breakfeast they make ,i love the quiet and peaceful surroundings and the neatness of the place ,i will certainly come back for that warm hospitality yiu get from the owner and the staff ,very accomadating indeed,no ask is an inconveniece for them ,I enjoyed my stay and well done to the team at Keedols
I loved everthing ,couldnt fault the place at all.Friendly staff and owner ,I will be going back for that kind of relaxation.

I found Keedols Inn to be a warm and welcoming place and bed and linen were clean and comfortable.Its perfectly located with exceptional value for money.I had full use of the outside kitchen which had the necessary kitchen equipment .I was requested to ask for all other daily kitchen essentials as guest sometimes stole these items,which was understandable. This was my second stay at this gem.of a place and it baffles me as to why guests gave it such bad ratings and negative reviews. AWESOME PLACE INDEED
I couldn't fault the place at all ,wish I could enjoy delicious breakfeast like that every morning.

The contract workers staying are very unfriendly when asked for assistance to open the gate with their code I never met with the host. No washing facilities for our clothes Braai and cook area was filthy and we had to eat leftover food as we wanted to cook a proper meal.. there was no hot water during our 1 night stay. and had to get back on the check. I will never recommend this place to anyone
Dear Sandra. I am very pleased to know that the guests did not provide you with a code for security reasons as you were given the code 2 times in our chat. You were allowed to check in an hour before the time & and were also informed about the laundromat services. You asked whether hot water was limited but did not at any stage tell me that there was no hot water. None of the other guests conplained that there was no hot water. Regarding the cooking facilities, I know that the current guests who have been staying there for over 2 weeks always keep the place clean. It would appear that you were looking for a place to do washing and cooking but booked a luxury room that you paid just R400 for. You did not complain about the comfort and cleanliness of the room but rather what you did not get. I suggest you book self-catering units that charge R1000 per night in Knysna instead of backpackers situated in a prime location. Unfortunately, guests like you pay low prices but don't appreciate value for money.

Verified reviewWhat a comfortable clean and serene place to stay! I received much more value for the money that I spent. I find the review given by my fellow Greek citizen viz Alexandra totally disrespectful and does not portray a true reflection of the place. The dorm room has adequate facilities expected in that there is a fan, heater, kettle, fridge, Wi-Fi, outside kitchen and barbecue area. The bed was comfortable and linen was of good quality. I enjoyed my stay and will be back next week.

Verified reviewI loved my comfortable king size bed with crispy clean sheets and a quality duvet and pillows. My room was equipped with a smart TV and lightening fast internet, a fan, heater, kettle, and en suite bathroom as well as a fridge. I can not disregard the cleanliness of the place as well as the kindness of the host and her assistance. Compared to similar establishments in Knysna the price was reasonable and the location superb.

Verified reviewVery comfortable bed compared to other backpackers I’ve stayed at. Warm fluffy duvets and soft pillow. In my room I had access to a TV, Fan, Heater, Fridge and kettle. There’s also an en suite in the room. The outside kitchen area has gas burners, a microwave oven, pots and cutlery. Guests are encouraged to request cutlery from the host. The room, bathroom and outside relaxation area in the courtyard is very clean and tranquil. This is by far the most peaceful, well priced backpackers in the Garden Route.

No free coffee, nor tea. Access is limited to the outside kitchen, with gas stove, and nothing provided to light the stove. Found the previous tenants dirty pants in the cupboard. There's mosquitoes. The little bar fridge was warm and switched off.

You could've asked for a lighter because other guests have their own or take the ones that are provided. We apologize about the forgotten clothes in the cupboard which is an oversight.
