We had a great stay at Bella de Karoo! Easy access close to the N12, we had tasty Bobotie already waiting for us. The padstall next door does a monster tasty omelet. Totally recommend these guys.

The floor was very creaky so made a lot of sound while walking around...

The host were very sweet and helped with a late check in... Room was very spacious including the bathroom.. Had a very short stay so was convenient and ticked our boxes. Location is very convenient if you are planning on the meerkat experience.

The location is ideal if you want to get away from everyday life. You'll find the place as it is mentioned in the pictures and the reviews. If happy with no TV but wifi available. Very peaceful and dead quiet at night, with no traffic noise.

The WiFi was patchy, which isn't what I expected or ideal when travelling solo. You could get better WiFi at the farm shop, which was a 5-minute walk up the road.

The host was communicative and helpful, she organised food to be available for dinner on my arrival. I liked the room and the bed was comfortable, plus the location is pretty remote but easy to access. The dip pool was available to use on my last night, which was a nice option. Having a fan in the room was also useful, as it got pretty hot!

It is a lot more run down than the pictures show. The photos on the website seem very out of date.

There are two things I would say- -a fan in each room or for each set of beds would have been much appreciated- it was extremely hot and it wasn’t possible for one fan to reach everyone. - we booked three rooms because based on the description of the rooms, that’s what we needed to fit our two families. The family room said it has two double beds and two singles but in fact it had one double and two singles. All rooms slept 4 comfortably so I couldn’t see much difference between the family room and the twin rooms; except for some singles being bunks and others not.

I loved our stay here and the rooms were so lovely, the little touches eg fresh flowers on the towels, lovely cushions, tea & coffee, milk in the fridge, cute furnishing- all were appreciated!

Lack of two prong plug points and having to unplug the fridge to plug in the microwave to use it.

The bedding was good, and the bed was comfortable. I loved the bathroom and the peace and quiet.

Selling point when we booked was that it has a restaurant. After booking confirmed we were told the restaurant was not open so a 20km drive to calitzdorp to a restaurant. Would not have booked this property if that info was known at the time

This is an authentic farm stay. The rooms were spacious and homely. Bed and linen lovely. Supper was offered, and I chose the delicious bobotie and Greek salad - the serving was enough for two meals.

Bella de Karoo is a much better choice, in my opinion, than anything available in Calitzdorp itself. The only minor negative is that the self-catering facilities are communal. Utensils, dishware, etc is localed in the cabinets adjacent to the stove and sink facilities on the east side of the accomodations building. Brighter interior lights in my room would have been a welcome improvement.

This property, about 20km east of Calitazdorp, combines a roadside 'padstal' local farm-products/wine store and restaurant with separate accomodations that are set back some 300 meters from the main road in a tree-shaded glen, and so are quiet and tranquil. I had Room 1 on the northwest corner of the single-story accomodations building, a late 18th Century converted barn with an elevated wrap-around veranda. It was very large, spacious, and well-appointed. Elmarie is a gracious hostess with an accomodating staff. The restaurant serves a variety of home-cooked offerings for breakfast and lunch, including various roosterkoek (Afrikaner-style griddle cakes - delicious!) combos and 'pap en wors' (mielie meal and coriander-spiced farm sausage), both favorites of mine. There is outdoor seating in the rear interiror garden of the restaurant, where some chickens range free. A big plus for me was the Andrieskraal Eco-Reserve right across the main road - a largely untouched mega-garden of hiking/cycling trails through various cacti, succulents and fynbos, frequented by kudu, various small animals and birds, and the occasional leopard, I'm told.
