Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Our second visit and once again it delivered an experience of a lifetime. I have no doubt that the same could be said of many businesses in the area of the Kruger but in terms of bang for buck I cannot imagine any better than this. If you are after 5 star accommodation, gourmet dining and modern facilities this is not your place. If you after an unfenced bush experience, decent food in your belly, awesome hospitality, great game drives and a reminder that you are alive then look no further. We will return when and as often as we possibly can until the day I depart this planet. Without doubt the highlight, again, of our trip which involved 6 different stops in the Greater Kruger area including private residences, SANparks rest camps and private reserves. All were great but this was the greatest!

United StatesNothing. Rough dirt road with pot holes so future guests please allow minimum 1.5 hours from gate to camp. Don’t be like us 😄
We only stayed one night but wished we stayed more. We arrived 30 minutes late for our sunset tour as we under estimated the time it took to drive to camp. Host was so accommodating. Fed us lunch as she called the driver to come back to pick us up to so we didn’t miss out too much. Thank you And much appreciated. Didn’t expect such hospitality. Food was the best we had in South Africa. Better than the more expensive Sabi sands. Game drives were excellent. So much value for price. Will definitely be back in the future.

FranceMy three-day stay at Buffelshoek Tented Camp was nothing short of magical. Waking up to the sounds of the bush and watching wildlife from the deck was unforgettable. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully integrated into nature, offering a truly immersive experience. The staff were incredibly kind, and made every game drive feel special. It’s a perfect spot for anyone looking to connect deeply with the wild in a peaceful setting. And we even saw the big-five and some more, thanks to their amazing guide!

GermanyA fan in the rooms would help against the summer heat.
The location is a bit off but very much worthwhile driving a bit of extra mileage. The camp is not fenced and one has a great chance of close encounters with elephants, etc. The tents are basic but very clean and tidy. Food is delicious and very plentiful. The desserts in particular deserve praise. Game drives are amazing. The scenery is not so dense and game spotting is relatively easy. There is a great chance to see the Big 5 and much more within a couple of days. We found the scenery to be amongst the much beautiful ones in all Kruger.

Staying at Buffelshoek was one of the best experiences of our lives. It is an unfenced camp, so the animals can roam free through it. We were welcomed by an elephant on arrival. During the day, you can move freely from your tend/house to the main house; at night, the staff will accompany you for dinner. There's no electricity apart from lights in the rooms, but there's hot water, and there's always a breeze coming in from the windows, and when it is too hot, you can always go to the main house, on the sundeck. The rooms are so lovely and spacious, and so is the bathroom. The sunrises you will see from your bed staying here are the most beautiful. You eat with the other guests, and there is a fixed menu, but they are very accommodating and had no problem making vegetarian food for us! The cook is great; we ate very, very well. The fact that it is an unfenced camp also meant that a snake got into the main house one night and that we could hear the elephants scratching on the trees near the houses at night, and it was a little scary. But first of all, the staff took care of the snake with no trouble, and second, for us, the fear was immediately overcome by the awe of being so close to nature. This is such an authentic and well-cared-for place, and we truly loved it. A special thank you to Benson, our fantastic guide and driver who made this experience even more special (we saw all the big 5, tons of animals, even in big groups).

SwitzerlandWe spent 2 amazing nights in this not fenced camp, this means that you can have any kind of animal right in front of your tent! Best safari we had in the area. Spacious and comfortable tent. All guests will have served meals in the common area. One night we were woken up by the sound of lions. If you look for an immersive experience this is the right place

Great team lead by Lynn! Game drives with Ronnie was so perfect! We saw all big five in 2 days! He is very respectful to the wild and animals and I liked how he would follow the footprints of animals to predict where they maybe. Great food with nice seasoning, they feed you plenty! Unfenced and not developed area; you really are in the wild. We had elephant feeding itself right in front of our tent, and we had to wait for him to walk away for us to safely go back to our tent. Wifi was good enough in the main area.
