Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaWhat an Absolutely Beautiful Cozy Home in a Gorgeous Setting. Everything we needed was all there and the fireplace was so welcomed in the cold. Close to all the places to visit as well. Judy was so lovely as well and made sure our stay was top notch. Would Highly recommend.

The location is idyllic. The composition of the house is perfect for a small family. Everyone one might need is available. The finishes are lovely. It is 1.4km from Michaelhouse.

South AfricaLoved it but unfortunately not most ideal if we’d come with our daughter who suffers from Cynophobia - extreme fear dogs. Always a challenge when finding suitable accommodation. Always helpful to mention that accommodation has dogs/ puppy friendly or noses as this always helps when travelling with her!
Host was great! Friendly & pleasant! It was at perfect location for our needs!

South AfricaThe write up for this property is a little misleading as we were under the impression that there were two showers and there is only one the other bathroom is only a toilet and basin.
This property has lovely views. It is clean and comfortable.

South AfricaA beautiful cottage, in a secure location. C'est La Vie has lots of comfortable hiking trails for all ages and an amazing guide on the trails is the German shepherd Molly. Beautiful views, felt like a forest adventure but with very comfortable accommodation. The kids loved the loft room, felt like a tree house. Judy our host was very warm and friendly. Plenty of horses, cattle and farm animals to seen along the way. The kids really enjoyed it. The gas geyser was not as effective as an electric one that's probably the only thing needed for me to give a 10/10.

South AfricaThe hot water does not get hot enough due to it being gas geyser. We had to take very quick showers.
The cottage was so clean and comfortable. The owner, Judy, was so lovely and made us feel very welcome. The beds all have electric blankets which was a must in the cold weather. Judy gave us so much fire wood, coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate and biscotti. Her dogs were friendly and well behaved. We felt safe and the view was beautiful. The cottage has rechargeable lights for load shedding.

AustraliaFor some, the road in and driveway may be off-putting, but for our two wheel drive Suzuki, it was not a problem. The location and view were well worth the effort. Inaccurate information provided by Bookings.com led us to believe we needed to provide our own linen. This was not the case - strongly recommend checking with facility before arriving to ensure you are properly prepared. Linen is provided by Cest La Vie.
Cottage was as shown on website, clean and well appointed. Owners were thoughtful, supportive and proactive, while staff were polite and helpful. This facility provided a great home base for our stay and planned activities in the area.

South AfricaThe gas geyser can be tricky for those that don't know how it works, but once you know how, it's reliable. The floor above the bedroom can be noisy for the main bedroom below, especially if you have children. Don't let Eskom ruin your holiday, take back up torches/lamps and enjoy the peace.
Rob and Judy have beautiful, clean, private accommodation which is ideally situated to explore the Midlands. Comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi with access to Netflix. Lovely verandah overlooking the river that can be used to braai even during bad weather. Gas stove and gas geyser which operate during loadshedding, a life saver. The option for daily cleaning. Judy was available to help with any request even during the pouring rain. Plenty of firewood freely available. Access to peaceful, private walks on and next to the property. We also enjoyed the company of their super friendly dogs and kitty, who added an extra level of comfort to our holiday.
