Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaSomething to be considered is privacy. Between the units maybe build a braai for each unit. It will give a bit of privacy. Also a little roof. It was raining so hard and a " afdak" would have been nice to shelter from the rain.
Loved the views. Host was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Everything ws very clean and the bed comfy. Security is excellent. The ducks are a treat. Although it was raining and we couldn't walk around a lot we could see all the protea's and other plants. Loved that it had name boards to indentify. Gardens and lawns are beauriful. So neat.

South AfricaWe weren’t there long. Our friend who was staying in the room next to ours collected the keys. Place was clean, neat and comfortable. We went for a run and accidentally ended up on a neighbour’s property. After a short, very polite discussion we continued with our run. Farm is amazing with some awesome views along the way. Enjoyed having a coffee outside our rooms overlooking the pond. Would definitely come back.

South AfricaThere was only 1 bedside table on the one side of the double bed so I was putting things on the floor but not a biggie really as it was only 1 night.
Location was perfect for our wedding event at a farm close by. Very happy that the unit was very hygienic with clean sheets. It was also very spacious with pretty views over the valley. My daughter went for a run on the farm which was very scenic.

South AfricaSeamless check in process. Malindi waited to welcome us after 8pm and took additional time to advise us on what activities to partake in over the course of our stay in the area. The accommodation was clean and resembled the advertised pictures to the t. The setting was tranquil and the perfect place to unwind. Overall an awesome experience

South AfricaThe walls between the rooms/cottages are thin and we could hear the neighbours.
A very pretty place to stay. Make sure to bring food/drinks along as the closest shop is a bit of a drive away and has limited hours.

South AfricaIf I had to nitpick, I’d suggest adding extra plug points by the bed for convenience. (Two point plug) I brought my own, so it did not bother me. As a solo traveler, the single bedlamp was fine, but for couples, two lamps with stronger light would be great for nighttime reading. While the units are quiet and the neighbors are respectful, I would have preferred a bit more privacy on the deck and braai area. Next time, I’d consider booking a family unit that feels more secluded. Overall, it’s still a tranquil escape with warm, welcoming staff and a serene atmosphere—a true hidden gem.
The Inn on Highlands is a peaceful retreat situated on a dam and surrounded by apple orchards, offering stunning views and a sense of calm. Perfectly located to explore the Elgin Valley, with the Elgin Railway Market just a short drive away. The rooms are cozy, with an amazing bed and excellent shower pressure. The warm and welcoming staff add to the experience. Ideal for quiet escapes, scenic walks, or simply relaxing by the water—a true hidden gem.
