Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

The whole accommodation is still under construction and you can see this in the rooms. They are okay for one or two nights, but it’s really basic and there are still some things missing like the shower curtain. Also the rest till now is really basic and grey due to construction.
The owner is very nice and kind. The location is okay (there are not many cheap accommodations around) you have to drive ~15 min to the canyon.

There was no hot water. And kitchen is non existent. I could not even prepare a 2 minutes noodles. The dishes and pots were dirty.

Hot water ran out fast. The communal showers. But if you like the camping environment you wouldn't mind this place.
You get what you paid for. The place is just for sleeping and nothing else. It's the type of place you would book at if you are around that area for a funeral or a family event. You attend what you have to then go there to sleep then wake up and go home the next day.

Infuture the place should try to provide guests with breakfast only.
The place has spacious bedrooms, clean and friendly staff . The place has access to public transport, which is the most important thing about Matibidi Guest Lodge. We didn't know the place, but because of its good reputation, we managed to get the place without lost.

I didn't like anything 😕 because what I saw on Booking.com is not what I saw personally. The room was smelling like raw fish. Toilet is in the room. Curtains are falling. The place is not safe at all. They must advertise with correct pictures.
Nothing. We didn't sleep there because the place is unhealthy.

THE ROOM WAS EXTREMELY SMALL AND DISGUSTING. THE SHOWER AND TOILET WERE IN THE SAME SMALL CUBICLE WITH A SHOWER CURTAIN IN THE SAME ROOM. THE OWNER SAID IF I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE SO-CALLED BATHROOM, I CAN USE THE SHARED BATHROOM. ??? THE ROAD THE PLACE EXTREME CORRUGATED SAND ROADS. THE GPS GOT LOST ON A FEW OCCASIONS. I DID NOT STAY THERE. THE PICTURES DO NOT SHOW THE ENTIRE ROOM, AND YOU HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT AND NO "REFUNDS". WHAT DISHONESTY................ PHONE / WIFI SIGNAL WAS LIMITED AND NOT AVAILABLE.

We had a disappointing experience at Matibidi Guest Lodge. We didn’t even stay for more than 10 minutes and had to book another place to stay. This guest house needs a lot of improvement to make it more comfortable and welcoming for guests. I would not recommend it to anyone. Even though the place was kind of clean, and the room felt old and poorly maintained. It did not look like the pictures at all. The Toilet is right next to shower both covered by a curtain. Sadly didn’t take pictures as we were very uncomfortable and shocked.
The owner is a kind and polite man, but unfortunately, the facilities need a lot of improvement. It was kind of cheap and I think that’s only because of the location is in the bundus. Although we thought it was in Granskop.

The outside was not paved so it was muddy The backyard had long uncut grass There were no facilities so there was absolutely nothing to do while there There are no TVs in the rooms There is no basin in the room and you have to use a communal bathroom to brush your teeth There was a leak in the room I was in and water was dripping the whole night, that water would then make the floor wet The toilet and shower are not separated There is no door separating the shower and toiler from the room, only a shower curtain The internet had no connectivity The bed was comfortable but noisy The door in the women's communal bathroom doesn't have a handle from the inside and will get you stuck
Their pillows were comfortable The water was hot They have an iron and ironing board They have 2 power sockets in the room, one by the headboard and another near the shower They recycled pallets to make a headboard and nightstand, which is quite cute if you're into those things

The private bathroom facilities were a toilet and shower behind a curtain in the room. Not all rooms had fans. The shared bathrooms needed attention. It is very basic and not easy to locate.
Staff were very welcoming and price was very low but you get what you pay for, beds were clean but not comfortable.

The property is not advertised truthfully on this website. It is false advertising and was a big disappointment. No door to the shower room. Very dirty, cold, unsecured, broken windows with no heat, everything is concrete walls and floors. No proper entrance or reception area.
The staff were very friendly!!!
