We stayed in the pod for two nights and it was easily one of the most special places we have been. The view is completely stunning - sunrise, sunsets, stars were breathtaking! The pod is perfectly equipped with a hot tub, outdoor fireplace, lots of different seating areas, indoor heater and clever storage spaces for a snug and cosy room. We were brought our meals each day which were delicious and we had generous portions (we had vegetarian options) and the fridge was well stocked with complementary soft drinks, beers and wine. The kitchen has glasses, a hob, a microwave and an air fryer. From the moment we arrived we felt so well looked after by the hostess and game drivers. They were easy to contact at any time (we were very impressed with the WiFi in such a remote place). The game drives were incredible - very different to the landscapes we've seen before. There were giraffes, rhinos, monkeys and lots more, our highlight being the pride of lions (including a father and son!). If you're considering staying in the pod - it's a must from us!

An Unforgettable Stay at Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve We had the absolute pleasure of staying in the Pod at Mount Camdeboo for two nights to celebrate my birthday — and what an unforgettable experience it was! The team went above and beyond to make the celebration special, even surprising me with the most incredible birthday cake. Their effort and attention to detail truly made me feel valued and spoiled. The food throughout our stay was phenomenal — every meal, from breakfast to lunch and dinner, was delicious and beautifully presented. A real highlight was the hearty oxtail stew served one evening — absolutely out of this world! The game drives with our guide Luke were both informative and adventurous. We were lucky enough to have sightings of both lions and elephants, which made the experience all the more thrilling. If I had to mention one small downside, it would be the shower in the pod — the temperature control was a bit off, switching between steaming hot and ice cold. But honestly, that minor inconvenience did very little to dampen what was otherwise an incredible stay. Highly recommend Mount Camdeboo to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable safari experience!

Absolutely everything. We were welcomed by such great people. Our house we stayed in was beautiful. The games drives were excellent, and never felt like a rush. Food was amazing. We didn't get to use the hot tub, unfortunately, but the view from the hot tub would have been incredible. We're sad that we only stayed 1 night. Highly recommend it.

Om From the moment we arrived at Mount Camdeboo, we knew this was going to be something special. Nestled in the vast, rolling landscapes of the Great Karoo, it offered the perfect combination of luxury, tranquility, and untamed beauty. Private, Peaceful, and Perfectly Catered We booked a 3-bedroom house, and it truly felt like a retreat of our own. The privacy was unmatched, allowing for a peaceful escape into nature. One of the highlights was having our own private chefs, who prepared and served incredible meals. Every dish was of an exceptionally high standard—beautifully presented, full of flavor, and made with care. Having all drinks includedwas a fantastic touch, making every moment even more enjoyable. The hot tub was another luxury that added to the experience—it was ready anytime, day or night, making it easy to unwind while soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. Exceptional Service & Guiding The team at Mount Camdeboo made the experience unforgettable. Every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in ensuring we had the best stay possible. A special mention must go to Rudolf, our ranger, whose knowledge and passion for the wildlife made every game drive both fascinating and educational. He explained everything so well, adding depth to each wildlife encounter and truly enhancing the adventure. The reserve is a bit off the beaten path, but that’s precisely what makes it so special. The facilities are thoughtfully designed, from comfortable accommodations to convenient parking and well-kept communal areas. Final Thoughts – Would I Recommend It? Absolutely! But book the 3-bedroom house rather than the rooms.

No shortcomings.

As on my previous two visits the visit was everything I expected. The warm welcome, excellent accommodation, imaginative meals and knowledgeable guide all added to the great experience. Tabs, Justin and Charl in particular could not have been more welcome. I hope to return with more guests in the near future. Thank you all.

Our stay at Mount Camdeboo’s pod was amazing from the beginning to the end. The reception and our guide were amazing, the pod and his view over the mountain was amazing, the food was amazing, and the game drives were amazing. Worth it! Thank you for everything!

Arrived at 14:00 (checkin time) but was only transported to the pods at 16:30 so had to sit around and wait at manor house for other guest who arrived at 16:30. This limited our time at the pod as you are also fetched early on your check out day . Ideally you want to spend as much time at the pod when you arrive as your 2 game drives a day start early in the morning and end late at night so you only have time during the afternoon to chill at the pod if you only stay for two night. Food was enough and good but both evenings we had meat and the same vegatables- variety would have been nice. Would recommend you also take snacks with as you are 45 min away from the manor house and there is none in the pod.

The pods are exceptional with amazing views and a great place to wind down and relax. Sitting by the fireplace and star gazing was swamping. Game drives were great with cheetah and lion sightings.

We stayed in one of the pods which was an amazing experience. You were enveloped by the reserve and it was the perfect place to relax with little to do disturbance. We had two game drives a day and the ranger was very friendly and informative. And we were lucky to see most of the animals on the reserve including a small pride of lions. Meals are delivered directly to the pod and was well prepared and delicious. All in all this is a must do and if I get a chance I would definitely go back.

We had an incredible time and will definitely come back. The location a little bit off the grid and not too many guests was exactly what we wished for, for an intimate game reserve experience! All expectations were exceeded :) From the welcome, to the Manor, to the amazing food, the game drives, star gazing… everything was wonderful and moments we will cherish! We were a bit worried about the 27km gravel road. But in the end even our VW Polo had no problem at all. Just go slow and enjoy the ride, there are wild animals already on the way to the reserve (we saw a lot of giraffes, Kudu, Monkeys…). With some stops to watch the animals, it took us around 1h 15 min.

We had an exceptional time at Mount Camdeboo (4 nights in the manor and 2 in the pod). The staff were excellent and made us feel so at home. The food was out of this world! We also had the opportunity to do a walking safari which was fantastic. The best part of the experience was our guide Rudolf who was incredibly knowledgeable and always keen to help.

This lodge/ manor house provides absolute peace and that's what really makes it special. The staff are attentive and friendly, the game drives very good for both animals and scenery. We stayed in a cottage on the property and it was wonderful, within 10 minutes of our arrival a family of elephants were about 50 metres away from our house, behind electric fencing of course.
