Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVery cold room in winter, the wall panel heater in the living room just did not project heat to warm up the room, I had to sit on a cushion on the floor in front of it to stay warm. Couch was worn out and uncomfortable to sit on, no indoor table/chairs for eating, room needs some updating and reconfiguring. Kitchen was not really designed to cook anything, just fixing a cold breakfast. Outdoor front patio was unpleasant to sit on since it looked at the parked cars, fence next door and staff had to walk back and forth in front of you all day to do their jobs. Aside from the property itself, the town of Greyton just did not charm us so our expectations were probably too high for the whole experience.
Spacious clean chalet, bed was fine, the staff were pleasant, secure parking, location was good for walking to restaurants. Their onsite restaurant had a pretty good burger and was very convenient in winter. There are several pretty good restaurants in town. Great free hiking nearby with lots of trail options and wildlife sightings. The park ranger at the entrance was very helpful and informative.

South AfricaAmy, Tommy, and staff were always available, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure that we were happy and comfortable. From the moment we arrived, without any prompting, they offered to change the room - to accommodate a mother and son travelling together. There are many reasons why their restaurant is always full of happy locals! We will definitely return. Hopefully soon!

United StatesIt is my hope that the next time I'm in Greyton, the pub will be open for business, As a consolation prize this last visit, Tommy gave us a couple of large bottles of his home-brewed craft lager and ale, which will be served there when open!
This is the second time I've stayed at historic Old Potters' Inn, and I think of gracious, accommodating and knowledgeable hosts Amy and Tommy as family and friends. The inn is right in the middle of the charming village of Greyton, close to the crossroads, yet is surprisingly quiet. Secure parking is off-street on the property. This time we stayed in a large room above the pub, which is undergoing extensive renovations. Everything worked and there was good water pressure in the shower, one of my favorite metrics. I have a weakness for funky old historic hotels in great locations, and this is certainly one of them. Shops, restaurants, and stores abound in the immediate vicinity and everything is within walking distance anyway. The Saturday morning village market is a short block away and features homemade and home grown items and crafts. Not to be missed is a visit to the largely restored historic mission station of Genadendal, a mere 5 km away, founded in 1738, a favorite of Amy's, the oldest in South Africa, and a great place to spend a tranquil time wandering among the tree-shaded mission buildings, some of which have been repurposed for contemporary uses.

South AfricaWe couldn’t shower as the water did not heat up even after a few minutes of letting it run. It also wet the floor outside the shower because of the angle of the shower head. It was too cold to even attempt to shower. Had to just have a wash but even then the temperature of the hand basin was tepid and not hot.
The room and bed were very comfortable.

South AfricaDie onderste sitplekkie was koud.
Ons voertuig was agter n̈ hek. Ons het veilig gevoel. Personeel was vriendelik. Elektriese komberse op die bed is n̈ groot pluspunt. Die plek het hul eie restaurant waar ons heerlik geeet het.

South AfricaThere was a live band playing next door until 23:00 (was a Saturday night). Didn’t bother us, but maybe not everyone’s cup of tea.
Well located, everything you need for a night or two. Room is small, but well thought out and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional and the room was spotless on arrival. Pool a bonus for summer. Great value as well.
