Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Breakfast is average, and not able to maintain for more than 2 days.
The rooms are clean and spacious. Great shower to have. Perfect location and easy and secured access to guesthouse.

A stunning view of the ocean and nature reserve from the deck. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable with soft bedding and fluffy pillows. The breakfast was delicious and hearty. The sparkling pool, relaxing viewing deck and tv rooms are excellent. A very special thank you to the two lovely ladies who hosted us - Zinhle and Xolie - they were most friendly, helpful and accomodating🌹🌹

I stayed for two nights and my room was never cleaned after the first night. I arrived after a busy day out only to have to make the bed myself. There are some maintenance issues needing attention I spoke to the staff and they were aware of it but don't seem to be bothered about correcting it

Was given "classic king", which I assumed would include a private bathroom and at least a chair or 2... instead, we had a shared bathroom- not a huge problem in this case, as I believe we were the only guests... but a bit more clarity on the room descriptions would be helpful, or at least an offer of an upgrade if there is one available.
Friendly staff, great breakfast. Generator to avoid loadshedding. Huge 60" Samsung TV which allowed screen mirroring in the room.

Everything met my expectations, the staff was friendly and welcoming, service👌 cleanliness👌 breakfast 👌and the fact that they even take care of your vehicle, you find it clean early in the morning, that's just amazing.

Access to the main manager of the guesthouse to help with WiFi connection. Language barrier with the lady that was at the guesthouse, therefore took many tries to get onto the WiFi so one could work.
Breakfast was just OK. Location and the surroundings was great. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious.

The staff didn't have the spare keys of our room ,so wasn't cleaned for the duration of our stay.

Breakfast for starters could have been much better. Dont take bookings if you dont have supplies. The space is impractical not a single chair in the room to work. Shared bathroom for female is not practical. Rooms with bathrooms was locked. left 2 nights before checkout. Not recommended if you are female and working person

The breakfast could be better . It was so dry and minimal - It’s bacon , sausage and an egg. The rooms are not checked prior to guests arrival. I got to the room and the fridge was not working , the tv was not working I had to go to the front and let the ladies know. Fortunately I got another room it was good. It will be better to have an iron in each room than having to walk to the reception area to iron your clothes.
The view is great. The pool was very clean . The bed was comfortable. The place is quiet and well maintained.

The Royal Guest House seems to have been a mega party place in the past and now should function as a hotel/B&B. As is, the place is highly unsuitable for this and little effort was done to make it working well. The bath room was appalling, the sleeping room was tiny, the living room was huge, but in part blocked with unused furniture. We never saw a manger of the site. The place was only run by service personal, but they did not speak much English and behaved rather strange. They were clearly not welcoming and constantly gave us the feeling that we disturbed them. Here some examples of how they worked: They would remove used cups and cutlery from the room, but would not replace them. They would produce breakfast, but there was hardly a relationship between what we asked for and what we got. Breakfast was greedy and of lowest quality. The room service would put all our things (without order) into our suitcases, close them and place them against the wall. We do not want that other people pack our stuff, and anyway, we do not want our things to be packed every day. We stayed for three nights in the same room. The room was cleaned only partially. Also, the swimming pool was dirty. We will certainly not come back to this Guest House.
Only the air condition and the internet worked well. The location was good.
