Their food could do with some better warming as our dinner arrived cold and we waited excessively for fruit juice at breakfast.

Sakhile and her team made our experience unique and seamless. From Check in to department we were treated like family and we are so grateful for that. The game drive was a nice touch and our driver Cosmos gave us a 5 star experience with excellent knowledge of the environment.

Some basic maintenance in the rooms can be done with the curtains. They were hanging off a bit and then by the 2nd day after the room got cleaned, half the curtain was hanging off and left like that. Instead of the lady asking someone to fix it, we just got a sorry. They have an amazing dinner menu, and then they give you two options to choose from out of the whole menu. Possibly because it was quiet.

Rooms were huge and clean. Meals were delicious. Staff were very friendly. Kosmos did our game drives and he was so lovely! Very friendly and made the game drives memorable. We got to see most of the animals! Was a great stay. Their gardens and areas are well maintained and it's very beautiful there. You get a free morning 1hr safari and this is definitely worth it! And it's affordable to do the additional safaris. You can ask them to take you to thandi's tavern and you get to see all the hippos which is lovely.

Besides the game drives there wasn't anything else to do. Maybe allowance for somewhere to walk for guests... somewhere that's not too far and guests don't have to pay. The TV in the room could help a bit especially on cold rainy days when you can't sit outside for too long to enjoy the nature. Maybe a buffet option for dinner and breakfast could be nice instead of a plated option. The lions were a bit unexpected. We expected lions in the wild....roaming freely. The caged lions felt like a zoo.....which is not nice to see. The pillows in our room had a bit of a white dusty residue coming out. Not sure if they are old or something tore inside .....but maybe adding some new pillows. I think some additional blankets are a nice addition in the cupboards for cold nights. Even if it's just 2x fleeces.

It was quiet and restful. We enjoyed the game drives. They were insightful and very lovely. Our room was nice and big. We loved it and the view was peaceful. The breakfast was lovely. The entire farm is beautiful. The dinner set up was so lovely. The staff was so friendly and lovely. Everyone was just so pleasant. We really had a lovely time.

Games room did not have all the things needed to play some of the games also Windows and tables and racks where boardgames are was very dirty. Place needs some tlc.

I loved the friendly staff. From when you show up greeted with drinks to arriving from the game drives meeting us with a warm cloth to wipe your hands. That's really special touches! The food was amazing. The chef was very good! The game ranger Cosmos was a real Diamond and made us feel welcome he made sure we could see loads of animals and that we were warm and comfortable. Accomodation at Khaya lodge was clean , double showers , nice deco , clean linen. Kitchen had coffee , tee and sugar and milk with rusks for pre breakfast. If you look at all the extras like the robes you can wear , the body wash , the food and service. The money is worth it. We will go back again !

While everything about the lodge and staff was truly exceptional, I did feel that the activity options were a bit limited — especially for families travelling with children. Game drives were the main offering, and although they were fantastic, any additional activities came at an extra cost. It would have been wonderful to have a few inclusive or family-friendly options outside of the drives to keep little ones engaged during the day. The pool was not heated which is not ideal when travelling with childen and not that getting colder in jhb

The manager checked in with us daily to ensure everything was perfect, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate our meal preferences. Our children don’t eat sugar, and they went out of their way to prepare special cakes and desserts just for them — an incredibly thoughtful gesture we’ll never forget. One evening, when the kids were too tired for dinner, the staff even brought our meal to our room without hesitation. That level of care and flexibility is rare — and deeply appreciated. A special mention must go to Cosmos, our game driver, who was without a doubt the star of the lodge. We did three game drives with him, and each one felt like a new adventure — filled with unique sightings, stunning photo opportunities, and insightful knowledge that brought the bush to life. His genuine kindness and the love he showed our twins was deeply moving. He even went the extra mile to fetch an extra floaty so they could enjoy the pool. I truly believe our experience wouldn’t have been as memorable without him — he is a treasure and a true asset to the lodge. What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail and how seamlessly the staff work together. You can feel the pride they take in every small touch, creating a space that is welcoming, polished, and effortlessly five-star. They treated us like family, and we left with full hearts and unforgettable memories. I’ve already recommended this gem to all my friends and family — and I’ll continue to do so. i liked how friendly the staff is and very helpful. The food was amazing, tasty and fresh. They have tight security and the place is child friendly. The game drives are spectacular and Kosmas our ranger is the best and very helpful.

We expected more wildlife - the impression was created that the waterhole was a busy one, which it isn't. Communication of mealtimes etc could be better - we waited a long time for Dinner every night without knowing what time it was to be served. It may be late, but if you know then it doesn't become and issue.

If we had to mention one small thing—it’s not a deal breaker at all—but there are no TVs in the rooms. While we truly enjoyed the peaceful bush experience, it would have been nice to unwind with a movie in the evenings when relaxing alone.
