I can't fault the place on anything, really,just a bit of a scuffle noise by the squirrels.

From the moment we arrived at Ukuthula cottage, we were welcomed by our host Bill.He was very friendly and very helpful with any information about the cottage and the area. If you are looking for a quiet location that fits in well with the natural surroundings, Ukuthula is the place to be!! The cottage itself is beautifully decorated with a safari theme with a wrap around patio over looking the bush. The first morning, we came across an Deer/impala and in the evening, we could hear the sounds of Lions in the distance. It's perfectly located just under an hour from the Kruger National Park and under 30 minutes from Hoedspruit and local amenities.We had a lovely stay !.

The place is clean, very spacious and was easy to find. Bill was very welcoming and was kind enough to wait up for us as we arrived quite late. Like the name says ukuthula, the place is extremely peaceful and perfect if you want to rest and relax while surrounded by nature. It is a short drive to a nearby shopping complex and there are a number of restaurants around. The apartment has all the amenities that one might need in a self catering apartment and it is clear that a lot of thought and consideration has gone into making sure everyone who visits there is comfortable. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to more visits in the future.

Review: Stay at Ukuthula Cottages (28–31 December 2024, Superior Chalet) As a 75-year-old solo traveler, my stay was deeply disappointing due to several issues: 1. Power & Water Outage: A midnight power cut left no hot water, lighting, or means to charge my phone. No backup options like gas stoves or generators were available. 2. Communication Breakdown: With no power and poor reception, I had to make an international call to reach help. 3. Poor Road Access: The road was unsuitable for a standard car, with no prior warning provided. 4. Lack of Basic Amenities: The chalet lacked accessible lamps, torches. Told there was one candle afterwards. No insect screens made ventilation impossible, and without a fan or air conditioning, the room was stifling. I had to leave after one night, yet no refund or partial compensation (R4,250) was offered. The property must address these issues by ensuring backup power, better communication, and clearer road condition warnings. The experience was far from acceptable for the price paid.
