How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThere was nothing not to love about this stunning little lodge. The staff were incredibly helpful and always had a smile for you. We really loved that they only had a small amount of rooms. This made it a quiet relaxing place to enjoy. The breakfast, lunches and dinners were brilliant. We loved the pool and the little bar attached to the restaurant. It was all very well maintained. The lodges proximity to the little town was great. You could even walk there. Also very cheap to get into town by Taxi. This was USD $5 for a short ride. I wouldn’t recommend this walk at night because you may come into contact with some large African elephants. 🐘 We felt very safe in the property. All of our activities were organised through the hotel. Including calling a taxi for us to get into town the cost of a taxi to the start point of a sunset cruise or to see the Victoria Falls was USD $10.
There was absolutely nothing. We didn’t love about the property. We are extremely sad to leave.

Verified reviewThe staff were warm and welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. The nshima was incredible and freshly prepared. Breakfast was fine, although it would have been even better with freshly brewed coffee rather than instant. The location was ideal for exploring Livingstone while still feeling peaceful and relaxing.
I was a little disappointed that guests are not allowed to bring in food from outside, as it would have been nice to have that option. Parking was also a little limited, and it was tricky to drive in and reverse a 4x4. It would be more convenient if there were space to turn around. As a digital nomad, it would have been great to have a comfortable chair or small workspace, although I understand this is primarily a holiday setting.

Verified reviewAs a single traveller, I felt very comfortable here. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Trips out were easy to arrange. Breakfast omelettes beautifully cooked, gardens relaxing, location ideal for some photography and interaction with the wonderful people living nearby.
Stay too short. I had to fly home.

Verified reviewThe lodge was beautiful and well-decorated in an African theme. The staff were very helpful and willing to go above and beyond such as providing a glass of milk for us to keep in our room fridge for our coffee early the next morning.
We felt pressure to book our tours through the lodge, but thankfully we had already scheduled them so they couldn't be too upset with us. The restaurant at the lodge only had 1-2 people working so service was slow.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. I do apologize that you felt any pressure to book your activities through the lodge as this definitely not our intention. We have more than two people working in the restaurant and will take this up with that department to investigate why you received slow service and make the necessary changes to resolve this.

Verified reviewThe staff were absolutely amazing – everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The service was top-notch, and the food was delicious. The rooms and the lodge itself were beautifully decorated, creating a warm and homey atmosphere. Even during the usual power cuts in Zambia, the hotel had a reliable backup generator, which made the stay even more comfortable. I especially want to highlight the hotel manager – his professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail really made a difference. You can tell the place is run with care and passion. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Maybe some chopped fruits at the breakfast table but other than that I wouldn’t change a thing.

Verified reviewThis is under Lisa’s name, but this is Dan! The facility and the STAFF! What a great crew! The staff did everything from baggage to serving our meals! They were there from very early in the morning until late at night. There are only 10 rooms and our group had 7 of them! It was our own little resort!
The pool was….COLD! but, so was the weather. Nobody really wanted to swim due to the cool weather. Not much the hotel could do about that!
