Clean and inviting. Very private apartment.

You had to call for a shuttle to go to the main lodge. Hot water system makes very bad rattling noise when in use.

It was a lovely hotel with great facilities.

A bit further out of town than we wanted/realised but that wasnt their fault. Also the bar wasnt well stocked - quite a few items were unavailable but were on the menu.

Great rooms in an attractive complex. Lovely swimming pool. Staff all very accommodating.

Cozy and welcoming lodge with spacious, clean rooms, a nice pool, and good breakfast. The staff is very kind and always helpful. Quiet location, just a few km from town, easy to reach the center with a $5 taxi ride

Maybe a sign to ask guests to be aware of their noise levels when going for breakfast. Also the music on the speakers too early wasn’t great

Very comfortable big rooms, decent restaurant and breakfast and lovely staff who were the real highlight of our stay!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Car was readily available to take us where we needed to go at a reasonable cost.

Beds were uncomfortable. I had to place pillows under my mattress to get the head end higher than my feet. There was a sag to one side in the middle of the bed which you rolled into and half out of the bed.

Very nice and helpful staff, even when it came to solving a small problem with one of the tour operators, as I had booked tours to Hwange and Chobe National Park at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner very tasty. The room and bathroom smart and functional, very comfortable and spacious. I would definitely book Shrub Lodge again and recommend it to friends.

Dinner was extremely slow, not been served anything to eat in more than 30 minutes or more, prices very high, quality of fish not really good, rations too short.

Excellent value for money. Yes it’s not fancy- open racks, basic flooring but very clean, comfortable, bathroom good size with plenty of warm water. Staff extremely friendly and cooperative. Trips and transfers arranged by them were very good. Good breakfast. In a quiet part of the town so just one shop/ food place nearby. We dined in though- food was ok though choice limited

Some rooms near the reception may have lack of privacy issues. Ask for pool facing one- that was fine Not walkable to town but can take transport from hotel

The reception staff were friendly, polite and took time to organise as many activities for us for the short period of time we were there.

Dinner and Breakfast were very good. One of the best Chicken Burgers recently. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was comfortable and acceptable. Staff lent an extension cord as power points were far from the bed.

Communication between Bookings.com and The Shrub Lodge could be better. The original booking stipulated free cancellation and pay on arrival. Instead I received an email asking for payment several days early, when I was in a remote part of Hwange Reserve. Then, the link given me by Bookings.com would not work for either of our credit cards. I had to pay by Bank Transfer to the Lodge's South African account. Finally I received an email trying to get me to pay for a reservation that I had already paid for and checked out. Clearly, the IT interactions between booking.com and the Lodge are deficient. All in all, a pleasant stay. A pity that the lovely, friendly staff's efforts are spoilt by IT iterations.
