It is my first time to Kashikojima and I like the quiet ciry. I took railway to the city and went to the hotel by free shuttle bus service. I enjoyed a very quiet and comfortable journey there. I liked the hot spring and room service very much. Even my Japanese is not very good but they will help you. It is not a very big hotel but with a lot of staff from different countries and you will meet someone speaks your languge...(smile)

The view, the staff, the style, the rotenburo (open-air bath on the rooftop. It is used by man/women on alternate days). the breakfast. The rooms are simple, and old, the hotel is not shiny and luxutious, but it represents the local Japanese atmosphere and tradition. The staff was so kind!

Hotel Othaya is located in a very small and picturesque fisherman village, about 30 minutes drive from Toba ,home to the Ama divers and a beautiful beach. The hotel is located a 5 minutes walk to the beach, close to a beautiful shrine , few cafes and also a very interesting museum about the history of the Ama divers. Othaya healing stay is an upscale boutique hotel, with amazing rooms beautifully and modernly designed with private spa units that have an onsen, sauna with beautiful views of the sea. The hotel is run by an amazing and friendly couple, Junko and Norimasa, that go out of their way ,to make your stay memorable and comfortable. On our Last day ,we ate the hotel's traditional Japanese breakfast, which turned out to be the BEST!!! one we had in our trip to Japan. We stayed 4 beautiful days ,and we highly recommend to make a stop in this laid back village to get a feel of the authentic and traditional Japanese lifestyle and get to meet the warm and welcoming local community.

We booked this hotel for three nights at the end of a very busy fortnight touring. It provided the rest and relaxation we hoped for. The hotel had a lounge area with plenty of seats and sofas, something lacking in all hotels we stayed in previously. The onsen experience was unique and traditional. The traditional Japanese breakfast was a great experience, although we used the sister hotel (a five minute walk away) for the buffet style breakfast and French dinner restaurant for the other days. The spa room in the sister hotel had a beautiful view and the treatments were excellent. The staff were polite and helpful.

We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a  100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring  rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful  Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!

Both breakfast and dinner each day were truly lovely. It included interesting local seafood and it was a unique experience for us. The waterfront setting was stunning…being able to walk out on a pontoon over the water right off your bedroom was something you don t see every day. The onsen had a real focus on timber and it was well worth partaking in. Overall our hosts looked after us so well and we were really sad to have to leave.

I thought I had booked a Japanese -style room, but the room had two beds instead of futons. So the room was roomier than expected. The food selection was expansive for both Dinner and Breakfast - Western, Chinese, as well as the expected Japanese.

Great hospitality. We got more food than we could eat. Friendly staff. The highlight was the location right on the water in beautiful natural surroundings and fishing spot. The onsen was also great.
