On a narrow peninsula protruding into Lake Garda, Sirmione is a wonderful town famed for its multi-turreted castle, Roman remains and hot springs.
The 13th-century lakeside castle makes quite an impressive sight as you cross its drawbridge to enter the old town beyond. From its walls there are lovely views across red-roofed buildings towards the trees hiding the ruins of a huge villa that belonged to 1st century BC Roman poet Catullus. Part of the complex included baths benefitting from the thermal waters, and the town still has a spa today on the opposite side of the promontory.
Nearby is the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with its 15th-century frescoes, and the surrounding narrow, cobbled streets are home to stone buildings and several Sirmione hotels on Lake Garda. The majority of hotels are mid-range, but there are still a few 4 and 5-star hotels in Sirmione to choose from.
Booking.com also has lots of accommodation by the lake in the newer part of town, and its Lugana Vecchia area has a UNESCO World Heritage-listed prehistoric site.
To the west of Sirmione is the lakefront town of Desenzano del Garda, while to the east is Peschiera del Garda, close to the Gardaland and Canevaworld theme parks. The nearest airport is Verona Catullo Airport to the south-east.

Great historic location, but extremely busy even in early May
thermal spas and mud treatments are excellent and must be tried
Lake Garda sunsets are beautiful
the castle is excellent
quieter north end of the island is worth exploring with some historic old churches
some great restaurants (Caruso's), but elsewhere waiters could be disinterested and unhelpful
great for ice cream!

It was great for the 4 nights we had there.
It was great for the 4 nights we had there. We arrived Wednesday and the town was not so busy, come Friday and Saturday it was busy and this was in May.
Walk up into the middle of the spur to find all the restaurants, which were ideally priced. I was surprised as I expected them to be expensive but most were very reasonably. The ones with decks by the water were a little more expensive but the view was great.
Great food and lovely Lugana white win.

It's a beautiful place to visit and relax. Some of it is a bit touristy but overall it's lovely. Big variation in the cost of food and drinks, so shopping around is a must before picking your restaurant.

Such a beautiful spot.
Such a beautiful spot. We stayed right in the heart of the historic centre and I can’t recommend it enough. The people are so friendly and the area is just beautiful. It’s not overly expensive compared to a lot of Italy. It is touristy - but not in an unbearable way. The locals are very welcoming and helpful. It is small so I recommend 1-2 days.

Sirmione is a great location to stay for a long weekend or 4 days. Very relaxing with plenty of sites, eating houses and bars. It's also a stone throw from the ferry port if you want to visit other towns on the lake.
We stayed at the hotel on May 08-10. We booked a room through booking: two nights - 330 euros. The room was two-room (number 9). But it turned out to be without a balcony and we were offered a smaller room (room 22), but with a balcony. On the booking website, this room costs 113 euros per night. The hotel could not count due to booking through booking (so they said). We ask you to return your assistance and return the difference in the cost of the rooms to the bank card.
About the hotel: good location, clean rooms, friendly staff.
Going to Villa Cortina is like going to paradise. The food was unbelievably excellent. Actually, we only ate in the hotel. Why bother to find a different restaurant when Villa Cortina has the best restaurant in Sirmione. The staff was wonderful. Helpful to the point where one server helped me chose foods I had no idea even existed.
Our view was of the lake, garden and pool. We had a little balcony so we often sat there, took in the view and had a glass of wine. You can't do better than Villa Cortina. As I said, it was heavenly.
My apartment had an amazing panoramic view, watching sunrise every morning through the window had made my stay! Clean apartment, warm (apartments in Italy in winter are not always so), nice small kitchen and dining area. Around 30 min walk to Terme. Parking area right next to the apartment. Collecting keys was easy, Livia, the host, was very friendly and helpful, communication process was smooth. I liked the surrounding area, it is nice to walk. Would love to stay again.
Great location in terms of Sirmione. We came by car, and hotel receptionist arranged a parking place for us out the old city, which is pretty near to go, but they even offer a transfer to hotel and back to the parking when you have a luggage. Breakfast with a view on the lake was good. One can go swimming from the hotel’s terrace. Terme di Sirmione are located in 3 min walk distance.
Interior is quite special with lots of oriental textile and wood.
Location of the hotel was perfect. Fortunate to have a small balcony overlooking the lake. Hotel had a large terrace where you could relax and chill out overlooking the lake. Breakfast was wonderful with a fabulous view of the lake. Staff were attentive and remembered you from previous day.
Staff at front desk were very accommodating and helpful. Would certainly recommend this hotel for a stay in beautiful Sirmione.
The location is good, you can reach the Sirmione castle on foot (25 min walk) or by bus. The room is really cozy, equipped with all necessary staff. The owners are amazing! They serve the best breakfast in Italy, speak English very well (it’s not obvious in this country), they even make pizza in the evenings. Absolutely recommend this place:)
The location was terrific. We had a view of Lake Garda, but were outside of the busy tourist area. Restaurants within walking distance, including one nextdoor. We had a lovely room on the second floor with a patio on the side with a view of the lake where we enjoyed our breakfast. Parking was free behind the building, off the street.
We only found this hotel by chance, we were wandering around Sirmione and decided to stay overnight, the reviews for the hotel were good and we were happy with the price.
The hotel was clean, the staff were helpful, and it was a great location - away from the busy centre flooded with tourists and just a short walk to the coast.
Location was perfect, quite, next to the Lake and few minutes away from Centre of Sirmione from where you can get Ferry to any of the places on lake Garda. Comfortable rooms, working kitchen, amazing pool for kids. Everything was super good. To top it all, free parking outside the hotel.
Great location, close to Sirmione. Practically on the shore of Lago di Garda.
Excellent facilities - tennis courts, swimming pool, barbecue, small garden, garage.
Also ideal for family cycling.
Sufficient privacy.
good location close to the center of Sirmione as well as the lake shore, hotel offers free parks and bikes which is can be used to reach port of Sirmione within minutes, breakfast was nice with lots of varieties.
Views, sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking.
The staff is very kind and even helped with tips to visit towns around Garda. This boutique hotel is located at walking distance from the Scaligero Castle.
Staff was nice, the breakfast was complete and good. The hotel is in front of the lake and close to restaurants. You can also walk along the lake to go to the Sirmione Castle, that was awesome.
Wonderfull! If you ever go for holidays to Sirmione you should stay at hotel Vinci. Everything was perfect and whenever we come back to Lake Garda we will stay here again.
