This property is a must visit. It has everything that you could want, not to mention just how absolutely gorgeous it is. The staff are so incredibly friendly and go out of their way to help & made us feel so incredibly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyday there was an activity, ranging from watercolor painting to Thai food. Stunning. Breakfast was a treat, once again the staff bent over backwards to help & it was almost that they could see us coming & our coffee order was waiting for us. The pool & garden surrounds were beautiful. The property as a whole is beautiful & I highly recommend it. I have no hesitations on going back there.

Located among Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystic capital of the North. Offering more than 300 temples, it is considered one of the most important cultural centres in the country.
Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still keeps a relaxed and laidback feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
This reputation is partly due to its proximity to mountains and lush green areas, like Doi Suthep Mountain and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 60 km away and comprises Thailand’s highest mountain.
Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city centre are a popular choice, offering a more picturesque experience, with its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.
The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Rd hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.
Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss 'The Rose of the North' deals on Booking.com!
Chang Mai is much bigger than I had realised. It has some historical sites, including the obligatory temples, and unique city walls and gates, as well as lots of activities for nature lovers, animal lovers and those that like "doing" things like canoeing, rafting etc. We went on a tour with Annie to the Sticky waterfalls, which was brilliant, and also did a night tuk tuk tour to several temples and the markets which we really enjoyed, and attended a Khantoke dinner and show, which was excellent. There were also lots of places to eat in the numerous markets, and lots of places that offer cheap massages. I would recommend flying here (cheap and frequent flights) and then doing lots of day trips/ activities from here, including the white temple and blue temple located in Chaing Rai. Note, it is a few degrees cooler here than Bangkok - a blessing for us as the rainy season is just starting and it is very hot and humid here (late May)

I had a friend who was able to give me a head start in getting around the town and district. Also on one day I hired a driver for about 3 hours to drive me around to the sights he thought were worth visiting. That was very cheap, 1000THB and good value. Just make sure their English is good enough for what you want, otherwise it would be a pain.
The town is really clean. No rubbish to speak of anywhere. Most of the action is from about 10.00 am through to midnight when it is the cooler hours of the day. The fresh food markets are very interesting to get an idea of how the Thai people transact business.
An interesting place to visit is the Museum of Makers. Doesn't get much of a write-up but worth it. It is an arts and crafts location with very good quality items - clothes, jewellery, furniture, coffee. The building is great architecture, modern Thai.

I loved it in Chiang Mai.
I loved it in Chiang Mai. The temples are beautiful, the Chiang Mai night bazaar was lovely (probably one of my favorite night markets, as they had shopping, food, and Muay Thai fights), and many day trips available. The nicest elephant sanctuaries seem to be located here as well. I went to Chai Lai Orchid for a day at the elephant sanctuary and had the greatest time of my life. The only downside about Chiang Mai was I went in April which happens to be burning season. Air quality wasn't great. It was considered "Unhealthy" throughout my stay but that didn't stop me from being outside and doing activities. Just be careful.

Chiang Mai is mostly flat; the old town being defined by a rectangular
"moat" . There are many interesting temple sites and places where markets are held, some of which are quite special. The people are delightful and are used to their town being inundated with foreigners.
There is plenty of nightlife when the temperature is easier than the daytime heat.
There is a huge range of eateries. The street food I found much preferable to some of the food "courts" especially set up for visitors.
Shopping is endless. The clinics are also.

City is good, people is also friendly.
City is good, people is also friendly. All is centered to make visitors spend money. avoid trips to shops nearby (ride will be offered by tuc tuc drivers) it is just a scam, nothing is like try to show.....
In general there is nothing really interesting to do overthere, national park visit is also nothing, not interesting.

A welcoming oasis. Beautiful and charming.
A welcoming oasis. Beautiful and charming. Very easy to get around the city with the Grab app. Unfortunately, March is "burning season" and the air was terrible, but of course not the fault of this unique and lovely property.
EVERYTHING was perfect!!!
Green Sleep was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed. Facilities are good and everything is provided. Stuff was the best part of hostel: very friendly, funny and helpful. The lobby of hostel is a hub to meet with people, get information about city and enjoy your free time. Location of hostel is in the middle of the old city, close to the Sunday night market (1 min) and great thai restaurant in Chiang Mai (5 mins). I strongly recommend to choose this hostel if you visit Chiang Mai!
New hotel with a nice decor.
The place had everything you will need on the go.
The balcony was an absolute super plus and good coffees on ground floor
The placement is very ideal only 2 minute walk from the best food market in old city.
Location also makes it easy for grabtaxi and red taxis.
The place was spotless clean and was cleaned every day.
I stayed in 20 hotels in Chiang mai at this price point over the years and this is one of the absolute best
The staff was very kind and super helpful.
Suan Dok Gate Guesthouse is a wonderful hotel experience for the budget traveller! My partner and I spent 10 nights there and were sad to leave. Very affordable, swift room make-ups ensuring you never missed a morning coffee and water bottle, but by far the best feature of the hotel was the helpful and wonderfully friendly staff! They made us feel very comfortable indeed and were always pleased to hear of our day's adventures and ensured we were informed on all the must-visit spots of Chiang Mai
Great hotel. We had a mini suite with a living room and kitchen. The place was large and very clean. The staff were really helpful as well and cleaners brought water and fresh towels daily. It's a quieter little area but within 5 minutes walk to 7-11 and bustling street area. We used Grab and got into the old city in about 7 minutes and rarely had to wait longer than 5 minutes for the Grab. Comfy beds and good internet. I was really surprised by this place and it exceeded our expections.
What an amazing hotel, I could write all day after staying here for over a week. Empress is beautifully designed, immaculately maintained and with a lovely staff. The breakfast is solid with some American and Asian choices to satisfy everyone. The restaurant has limited choices but the food is good for a hotel.
There is a lot of shopping and eating around the hotel but it's a taxi ride to visit the old city. It's definitely a pricier place for Chiang Mai but the luxury is worth it.
Wow - what a great find in Chiang Mai - this hotel is AMAZING! I have stayed all over Chiang Mai and this is hands down the best so far! Large smart television with Netflix, corner hot tub in bathroom, comfortable bed and linens, super friendly staff, great location next to old town wall, spacious rooms with large balcony! Everything about this place is classy and deserves 5 star rating!
Everything was wonderful! 5 starts for the value. Sabuy Chiang Mai a comfortable, clean, quiet, great energy boutique hotel to rest and recharge. Shared space with everything you could want. On a beautiful street in SE old city with the Sunday market just down the street. The owner is one of the sweetest men i have ever met and is right onsite for your every need. You will love it.
Absolutely stunning colonial property, everything has a 5* quality. Beautiful pool, and as small boutique hotel feels very personable and welcoming. Rooms exceptionally clean. Vintage cars available for transport. Only a short walk from a night market, and short tuktuk ride to the old city. Perfect for those who want to enjoy a more peaceful side of Chiang Mai in luxury
Located within in the old city, within walking distance to one of the main temples. The Sunday walking street passes directly opposite.
Breakfast is buffet style but with an additional choice for the egg option/soup.
If you book directly with the hotel, they provide access to small tours.
Free bike to use which is really handy if you would like to explore more.
Fantastic hotel. Immaculately clean.
Rooms were modern, comfortable and A/C was excellent. Ideally located in the heart of Chiang Mai, 5 minutes walk from the night bazar and within 15 minutes walk of The Old City. There is a 7/11 below the hotel which is ideal.
The staff were fantastic- polite and super helpful. Would definitely stay again
Clean, the pool was good to use. The day we left early to the elephant sanctuary they packed a little breakfast for us on request. All the main temples in the old town are a 10min walk. There are also restaurants and bars close by, yet the hotel is not loud at all. I would recommend if you want to stay in the old city.
Location between middle of old city and night markets/bazaar on south east side outside old city.
I only had the budget room, but was more than happy with size and amount of light coming in window even though close to a wall outside
The hotel itself is nice but fell short in many ways.
Perfect budget and compact hotel ideally located in the centre of Chiang Mai Old city. Walking distance from almost all landmarks and the food is top notch.
Ideally suited for us as vegan/vegetarians. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone ☺️
Located within the old city. Liked everything about this hotel. Lovely outdoor space with pool. Very large room with balcony. Lovely bathroom with large shower. Very good buffet breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommended.
I love the old Thai style hotel in the old city. Free tea, and coffee in the morning. Lovely swimming pool. My favorite short term place to stay in Chiang Mai. They always remember me and treat me well. Nice hospitality.
Good location for the hotel. Easy to access the temples and restaurants across the old city.
Staff and management were very friendly and helpful. Birthday cake surprise was fun and a lovely touch!
Best place to stay in Chiang Mai! Inn Oon is an oasis in the Chiang Mai old city. The rooms were great, the hosts were friendly and the veranda space was a much appreciated feature.
Everything is very clean and furniture is brand new. The old city is just 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The soaps provided by the hotel had a fantastic smell
this hotel is very nice. probably it is the best in Chiang Mai city. don’t hesitate to book it. I will definitely come back if I travel to Chiang Mai again.
