i called the hotel the nite before arrival and i spoke to Shannon.she took care and interest in our personal needs.when we arrived Shannon greeted me at the front desk and she remembered me from the call the nite before.she was concered that the other person with me would be in a room near the elevator since he had issues with walking a long distance...Shannon made our stay much better..i wish more front desk personnel were like her! i will stay here again because of her.the location was ideal.we were going to catalina the next day so it was conveniently located near the dana point harbor.

The room was very comfortable. The cafe and restaurant were both great. I needed to exchange my meal and had great service from the restaurant and room service. The walking trail was beautiful for an evening stroll and the view was greating having lunch either indoors or out. Wish I had more time to try the yoga, wine tasting, and bikes!

Husband and I stayed one night to catch a fishing charter scheduled for the following morning. The location was perfect... Walking distance to food, shopping, marina and beaches... Rooms were clean and the staff was polite and helpful... Other than the few issues listed below, we would definitely stay here again and recommend others give it a try... * The location of our room on the second floor, left us with no privacy, Unless we kept the drapes drawn, hotel guests stepping off the elevator were able to see directly into our room... *Room key issues- Need to update system. Lovely place to stay for decent rates and nice staff and pool! Clean and quick to all sites from Newport to San Diego. Stayed 40 years ago and it's the same great place. Nice some things stay the same. Must eat at top of Dana Point at Restaurant overlooking the Bay. Forgot name but really great prices for food and the normal price of California.

We had done our research and didn't check much off the list since we were so content with everything right there in the harbor. Loved everything, the staff were all excellent. Carmen, Dano, Erin, Tony manager, Brandi, all were friendly helpful and welcoming. The entire staff were all excellent, including the cooks, and housekeepers. We had a blast and had the time of our lives.

The hotel is an older hotel and was right on Hwy 1 directly across from the beach. It had a good view. However, you had to walk about 5 minutes along Hwy 1 to cross the road. Then walk up 52 steps, across the bridge, and then down 54 steps to get to the beach. The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have a little breakfast in the morning and the Staff was friendly. It would have been nice for booking .com to alert consumers that this hotel is under major renovations and no food service nor pool is available.

A small beach is nearby, and whale watching trips leave from near the hotel. Restaurants nearby are to suit all pockets, but a couple are very expensive. Good value for money, but parking is $15/day for the week I stayed. Helpful, very friendly staff.
