If you are looking for safari in the Cape Town area this was definitely worth the drive. We went to Aquila Game park the week after and Garden route game lodge was much nicer.

The property is in a beautiful location, isolated but not too hard to get to from the main road. Beautiful sea views in a tranquil area. I loved my stay here. There are trails to walk on the forest near the property and curious monkeys would show up in the morning to look at our chalet. Food in the restaurant was really good and I’ve also used the spa, which was amazing after a long flight. Staff were fantastic, so friendly and attentive. Wish I had time to stay longer and hope to come back one day. Book without thinking twice.

Offering unique forest views from above the treetops, this estate is just 10 km from Plettenberg Bay. Amazing experience. Daniel gave us some fantastic ideas for hiking trails. There is no plastic visible in the facility ! We appreciate the water glass bottles a lot!

Gondwana Game Reserve, where Big Five game roams free through the Cape fynbos, is located 25 km from Mosselbay. From the moment you arrive here, you are treated like royalty. The check-in is slick and informative and you are given a clear itinerary for your stay. The facilities are beautiful and the restaurant area is really stylish, which is good, because the food is totally excellent and it fits in well! We travelled with two teenagers and the staff made sure they were happy as well. The game drives were lovely and our guide (Collin) was informative and good fun. He really made the trips interesting and he had really good knowledge. We had a bush villa and it was well appointed and beautifully situated, there was a nightly turn-down service and a good choice of coffee, tea etc on hand. The booklet you get on check in with the species lists is very useful and our teens loved filling it in. An added bonus here is that you drive yourself to and from the main lodge, which gives you a chance for an extra game drive each way. We saw quite a lot just getting too and from the main lodge.

Trogon House offers treetop accommodation in the Tsitsikamma Forest, 15 minutes’ drive from the beaches of Plattenberg Bay. Beautifully decorated bedroom (number 4) with a view on the forest. Extremely quiet. The main shared areas (pool, lounge, dining room) are tastefully decorated as well, and the deck offers breathtaking views over the valley. The property offers the option of dining (for a very reasonable 350 ZAR per guest). Great breakfast, included in the rate. Great location barely one kilometer from the Monkeyland and Birds of Eden parks.

The hotel's atmosphere was inviting, and I loved the activities like the safari and horse riding – they were totally my vibe.
