Situated at the base of the wild Tsitsikamma Mountains, The Fernery overlooks an impressive 30-metre waterfall in the Sanddrift River gorge. Wow, what an amazing experience to stay at The Fernery. This is one of the places we will remember for a long time. The setting of the hotel was fantastic. The Jacuzzi and Hot Tub ambiance also fantastic. The breakfast by wide margin the best in South Africa. Dinner was also very good and fairly priced.

The staff, from front desk, spa restaurants are just wonderful and very accommodating. Our 5-year old daughter was offered a massage in a spa which was the highlight of her holidays. The outdoor swimming pool and rooms are excellent. Highly recommend.

Gondwana Game Reserve, where Big Five game roams free through the Cape fynbos, is located 25 km from Mosselbay. From the moment you arrive here, you are treated like royalty. The check-in is slick and informative and you are given a clear itinerary for your stay. The facilities are beautiful and the restaurant area is really stylish, which is good, because the food is totally excellent and it fits in well! We travelled with two teenagers and the staff made sure they were happy as well. The game drives were lovely and our guide (Collin) was informative and good fun. He really made the trips interesting and he had really good knowledge. We had a bush villa and it was well appointed and beautifully situated, there was a nightly turn-down service and a good choice of coffee, tea etc on hand. The booklet you get on check in with the species lists is very useful and our teens loved filling it in. An added bonus here is that you drive yourself to and from the main lodge, which gives you a chance for an extra game drive each way. We saw quite a lot just getting too and from the main lodge.

Trogon House offers treetop accommodation in the Tsitsikamma Forest, 15 minutes’ drive from the beaches of Plattenberg Bay. What an amazing place to stay, my wife and I enjoyed every minute of this beautiful location. The staff were fantastic and catered to our every need, the setting for our evening meal and breakfast was superb overlooking the forest, the food equally superb and amazing value for money. We were lucky enough to book into the spa for a one hour massage and two hour spa experience, which was amazing in the forest setting, the food after was great too. An amazing place.
