We have visited Richmond a number of times, lovely little town centre with lots of unique local shops. The Kings Head is a lovely pub, inside and out, and dog friendly. Nice walk down past the waterfall, plan your walk back up well as there are a couple of very steep walks! We didn’t venture far on this trip because we just wanted to relax, which we did because of the comfort of Ellerton House

Great walks around a very interesting town and its hinterland - loved all the dogs too, thought they added to the relaxed and happy atmosphere. The Little White Bus that took us up Swaledale was wonderful because of the lovely walking there. So glad that the lovely old character of the town is retained and that everything is accessible and within a small area.

I liked the friendly people in Richmond.
I liked the friendly people in Richmond. The shops, restaurants, and pubs were all great, and very reasonably priced. The portions in the restaurant were huge everywhere we visited. We used the local gym and spa on a day pass and the facilities were very good for the money we paid. The public transport was easy to use and cheap. The taxis were plentiful, the drivers were friendly and it was very easy to get a taxi.

We have family at Catterick and Richmond is only a few minutes drive from there. We like the Station complex with the shops & cinema, the centre of Richmond around the market place. I recommend the Green Howards museum and the Georgian theatre has a great 1 hour tour for just £8. There is the castle to visit and a nice walk around the castle to try. There are plenty of shops, little cafes, an indoor market, lots of pubs and a variety of take-aways. The market pace is cobbled and some streets away from the centre and very steep and can be hard walking for elderly.

Loved the dramatic landscape of the castle and the river valley around the town. The centre is up a slight hill but parking available in the central market square and down by the river. Some public footpaths available to walk in the countryside around the town. The town gives perhaps a good mornings wandering but with a car you can easily access the beautiful dales.
The hotel is quirky and our room was comfortable and clean. The bar is very nice and has a good atmosphere. If eating here, take an appetite as the food is good and portions generous. Good selection for beer drinkers and staff all very pleasant and helpful. There is limited parking at the hotel, but a parking token is supplied which can be used in the main square which is close by. This token can then be reused in other locations in Yorkshire.
Such a beautiful Yorkshire Dales farm and so quiet and relaxing. We were there for two days and had a lovely time. Played golf at Richmond, went to a wedding, had a super value dinner in a local pub, The Shoulder of Mutton, and thoroughly enjoyed our beautifully presented and prepared breakfasts. Freshest eggs in the country. Wonderful fruit. Best rhubarb ever! Pandered in our suite overlooking the flock of sheep with their lambs. Bliss.
A stunningly decorated mews house with everything that you need. Total luxury. No outside space but only a couple of minutes walk to Richmond market place where there are cafes, restaurants, hotels, etc etc. Love that the heating was in the mirrors and paintings, never seen that before. We only stayed a couple of nights as we were going to a wedding but would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.
Great location for exploring North Yorkshire. Lovely large bedrooms and bathroom perfect for our family of 5. Small but fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. Comfortable and cosy lounge diner. Very pretty street and an easy (uphill) walk into Richmond. Plenty of on street parking. We had a fun Halloween weekend and found the property good value for what we paid.
Fantastic place to stay in Richmond, a little pricier than alternatives in the area, but room was spotless, spacious and well equipped as well as comfortable bed. Breakfast was amazing, the hosts really look after you and the choice of hot and cold food (including fresh omelettes) was really really good. Parking wasn't too expensive and was right outside the property
The Castle House is next to the market square in Richmond - but despite that, in a quiet secluded location. The rooms are distinctive (quirky is the owner description) and the whole place full of character. The extras - soaps, teas etc are 'quality' which just adds to a feeling of being treated as a special guest. Everything good - breakfast was super. Good value.
Had a lovely break at the Old Milk House. Beautiful house, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Location was great, in a quiet village setting and a good base to explore Yorkshire dales..Russel was the perfect host, very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
The Mews was comfortable, clean with above average facilities available for our party. The keys were easy to collect and the host made us most welcome. It is sited in an ideal situation for visiting Richmond and the parking with discs did not pose any inconvenience as we were visiting other places too.
The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was delicious. The room was very comfortable and the location was brilliant for visiting Richmond. I would highly recommend staying at the Buck. Would definitely use again when I next visit.
The location could not be better: on Tower Street, just feet from the castle entrance, and loads of restaurants, pubs, markets, and groceries within a block. Free overnight car parking was a few blocks away, on "The Green" down the Richmond hill.
Very spacious, with a modern feel, beautiful views over the river to the countryside. Tastefully decorated throughout, very comfortable beds and lounge area, perfectly located to explore the town, and other surrounding parts of North Yorkshire.
Lovely setting in the centre of Richmond. Have stayed several times at the Kings Head and generally meets my expectations. Nice breakfast choices. The hotel is a lovely environment and has a comfortable bar.
Lovely hotel, well priced and a nice room. Loved the note left by the cleaners telling me to enjoy my stay. Would recommend to others and definitely will stay again. Great visit!
The bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep.
The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
Being in the centre of Richmond was ideal.
Very clean, peaceful, comfy beds, good location for exploring North Yorkshire. Enjoyed sitting in the sun in the patio area listening to the birds. Dog friendly
Location was perfect - central to Richmond and the Dales. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Staff were friendly and helpful.
A little touch of luxury in a picturesque Yorkshire village. The owners have transformed what was once a tiny village farmers’ local into a 5 star hotel.
Rooms were clean and spacious and were just what we were after. Very short distance from Richmond. The staff were very helpful, but also left us to it.
