Each room is named after an archaeological discovery of the quirky man who used to live here. The rooms were quiet and well-designed, and there is also a comfortable shared space for work or leisure. It's a short walk to the center of Viseu, where we enjoyed all the recommendations of the hotel staff! Breakfast was delicious, generous, and fully customizable,including local specialities. Highly recommend this local gem!

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Republica we felt welcomed despite being hot and dishevelled from a big day of hiking. This was one of the most friendly receptions we have had during our two weeks in Portugal. Nothing was too much trouble, including room service provided early from the Restaurant Menu when the All Day Menu was not available. We requested an extra night and again, no problem at all. Breakfast options at the restaurant were exceptional and the service, equally as good. The coffee machine in the room was awesome, the beds luxurious and the bathroom stylish and clean. The minibar was well stocked and an abundance of room snacks were available.

The room (the suite) was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a large and comfortable bed, a sofa bed that became two single beds for the children, a spacious bathroom with bathtub and a luxurious shower. There were bathrobes and slippers and a coffee machine. Exceptional hotel, right off the main square. Breakfast was good.
