Radisson Blu, Basel, hotel in Basel

Enjoying a quiet location in the heart of Basel, the Radisson Blu Basel Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the central train station and features a great indoor pool.

This is a very good modern hotel with very good facilities (good lighting in the room and very quiet, for example) - as you would expect at a reasonably expensive Radission. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is convenient for the rail station (eight minutes' walk) and also close to the town centre. Highly recommended.

Consum Residence by Krafft Basel, hotel in Basel

Located in Basel, 1.3 km from Kunstmuseum Basel, Consum Residence by Krafft Basel features a bar and views of the city.

The location is in a nice area of Basel very close to the Rhein , with nice little Cafes and restaurant. ( A bit tricky to find) Only 10 min walk away to the city centre. The room itself was not very big, but high quality interiors, very comfortable bed, the bathroom was very spacious. The weather was extremely hot for beginning of September. We struggled a bit with the nights as we only had very warm down feather duvets without AC. Couldn’t open the windows because of the outdoor noise of the bar on the ground floor and the main hotel on the opposite side of the narrow road. It was a shame that we only spotted the coffee and tea facilities outside the room on the corridor when we departed.

FAQs about hotels in Basel

Switzerland Through the Ages

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant. With Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.

Augusta Raurica on its outskirts houses a well-preserved Roman theatre, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colourful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.

When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.

The Basel accommodation on Booking.com ranges from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March you might just catch Fasnacht: Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to see it start though - 4am!

Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated!

Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated! I usually go to Luzern and Zurich while traveling by train; making them brief stops of two or three days. This time I stopped in Basel and I was delighted with this wonderful city! I can’t wait to return and plan on staying a few more days to take it all in! Wonderful for shopping and dining and easy to get to on the train. Also convenient for visiting surrounding areas, making an ideal home base for longer visits in Switzerland.

    We absolutely loved the zoo!

We absolutely loved the zoo! Quite small but the layout was deceptive so that it seemed much larger. The animals appeared well cared for and the enclosures were spacious with attention to enriching the environment for them, while at the same time allowing the visitors to get very close to them. In a very expensive country the entrance fee was very reasonable and half price with the Basel card. The university botanical garden was also a little gem with a collection of unusual plants beautifully displayed and free to visit. Basel itself an attractive city with a good feel about it. Don’t miss the quirky fountains near the theatre in the centre of town. Everything is very expensive for a British visitor which applies to Switzerland in general.

Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel...

Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel to other cities nationally and internationally as Basel is sandwhiched between France and Germany so, up to you where your heart will lead you for a day trip towards those countries. Peaceful and efficient. Trasport good, people chilled. Be ready to bring some money if you need to stay longer.

Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it. The old town is so so nice. It's also very well connected to other places like Reigoldswil for the waterfall or to Augusta Raurica which I recommend.

    Lovely city, but very expensive!

Lovely city, but very expensive! Mind you that most kitchens close at 21h and don't accept customers well in advance, as well as lots of places are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Go for all the beauty of the city, but bring the big wallet and plan to eat out early if you don't rent a place with a kichen and cook yourself. Don't bother to stay on a Monday, and consider to leave early on a Sunday, those two days are very, very quiet in Basel!

The location is on the bus route between the train stations so getting around was simple. Our room was exactly as described, it was very comfortable, clean, and quiet, even though it was street-facing. Switzerland is expensive, so having a hearty breakfast really set us up for the day. Breakfast was self-service, there was a good range of hot and cold items, and everything was replenished regularly.

The idea of a capsule is excellent! For someone who suffers from sleeping problems and with limited budget like me, it is a perfect option between hostel and hotel. I like my capsule. It was very quiet and clean. The price is unbeatable in Switzerland. The location is very good, 5 mins walk from Basel SBB. It is not possible for an early check-in but they offer a luggage room. We spent two nights in this hotel during our trip to Switzerland, one at the beginning of our trip when we arrived in Basel, and another one before we left the country. When we came back for our second night of stay, Tamara at the reception and Leonardo at the buffet remembered us and knew us by name. The kindness and professionalism of the staff makes you feel like you are in a five star hotel.

the room was clean and cozy, I like the presentation of my room and how the electronical curtain was operated. Breakfast was amazingly tasted. The wifi was good and stable, and worth mentioning was, because the location of Basel is almost at the border of France and Switzerland, so I was contantly experiencing the problem with my cellphone internet, but luckily the hotel wifi solved my problem.
