A bit laid back town, very nice vibe - no hurry or rush in the city. The sea-side area in winter was cold and windy, but still a nice place to see (maybe not stay). There was a nice christmas market with stalls on the square.

Not a real tourist town.
Not a real tourist town. Nothing to really encourage people to stay there. Do not bother to ask police for assistance or information, too much effort for them. The information centre needs better souvenirs.

I enjoyed my short stay in Kiel, Germany especially the hotel where I stayed. Premiere Classe Hotel is situated in the heart of the old town with many restaurants nearby to choose from, as well as shops for quick shopping. I just love the vibe in that area of Kiel.

We arrived to toward the end of Kieler Woche which is a huge festival, loads of events and so many people who always remained happy and polite. In the mornings the bins were emptied and the town was spotless. We stayed past the event when Kiel returned to its relaxed pace, it is a place that relaxes you.

Kiel is a lovely city with lots of activity because of the fjord and all the ships, ferries and boats that are out there all the time. The canal/lock is equally interesting to visit. There are good opportunities for shopping in the city, but we observed that here, too, a number of shops are empty.

I lived here for 11 years and come back every so often on my way to or from other trips. Love the town and how it has evolved: The students and university feel are still there, along with parks, great restaurants, and, of course, the Förde. There's a number of cinemas, theatres, and beaches nearby, as well as a host of options for day trips, including Schleswig and Haithabu, Eckernförde, and of course Hamburg. Kiel might lack a pretty old town (in fact, the town has to advertise it's old town with banners, and I was asked once by tourists where the attractions are, while standing in the old town); but it sports a certain modern maritime charm and once you learn how to see Kiel's non-historical beauty and liveliness, you will come to appreciate it as well, I'm sure. What I also like a lot: You can walk pretty much everywhere (if you're good on your feet).
the location was perfect. Right in the heart of the city and easy walking distance to many of the city’s main attractions. As many of the previous reviews have pointed out, the hotel is very new and as a result, the rooms were immaculate. the beds and bedding were super clean and comfortable. We didn’t take advantage of the kitchenette, but it was nicely appointed and would have been nice had we needed it. The staff was courteous responsive. One of the light switches in the bathroom was broken and the staff had it fixed within an hour.
Hotel was conveniently located only 1 km from the highway off ramp. It was easy to locate. There are stores and restaurants within walking distance. The location of the hotel is secluded from the busy street and other businesses, so it is mostly private, safe, and quiet. All the staff were friendly, professional, and always helpful. Check-in and check-out were easy and efficient. My room was exactly as presented on the hotel website. The room was very spacious and had good storage and options for seating.
The hotel is brand new so everything is in perfect condition. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spotless and well designed. I really liked the seat at the window which had a nice view of the water. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was very quiet despite the noisy traffic below. The bakery in the hotel was lovely and the coffee was great. The staff there were also lovely. If you are planning a trip to Kiel stay here!
Hotel was the last stop of our bicycle trip from Lithuania to Germany, so the hotel was like a heaven, very clean, cozy, we got a huge queen room for a really decent price, with sofas, tables, big and nice bathroom, also a private terrace on the roof. Staff was very friendly and helpful, they let us to take our bicycles with us and keep them in our terrace. Nice food for breakfast.
Very helpful staff, modern, clean, and well equipped hotel. Very good breakfast provided.
Excellent location. We travelled by bus to Kiel, and had a layover here before taking a cruise to the Norwegian Fyords. Bus station, cruise port, and shops + restaurants are all within walking distance
Always very please when staying at Ibis so far -, all locations
Very nice breakfast for just 10 euros. The hotel was located right in the city center, so you can walk anywhere basically. The staff was nice and even let me check in earlier because my room was already ready. The room was cozy, had a TV, equipped with everything you need for a short stay. The towels were exchanged every day which I really appreciate.
It's a family operated business (super nice owners) and they care about the property very well. There was good reception inside the apartment there was everything anyone could need. Nice and well furnished space with quiet nights to rest. Clean toilet and good shower. Owners provided excellent guide for new visitors to Kiel. Highly recommended!
The staff are all very nice and friendly. I dropped my glasses under the bed and waited for only a minute before someone came help me fetch it. Late check out was also allowed as I need to breastfeed the baby. The breakfast quality was also good, we enjoyed it. And also there are chargers for e-cars in the hotel's parking lot, big applause!!
The apartment was extremely well thought out - nothing was missing inside. It is also well situated for driving into central Kiel. For local restaurants and food shops, however, we found it too far to walk as we didn't fancy the expensive hotel just uphill. The local bakery was, on the other hand, only a nice morning walk away.
This hotel is a perfect place to spend your time in Kiel, it's close to the city center, and the personnel is great. The personnel is really kind, thoughtful and dedicated. The room was clean, as well as the hotel in general. If you stay here, try the breakfast, it's an awesome breakfast to start your day with.
We had travelled all day by train from London and it was just past midnight when we arrived in Kiel. Thank God when the hotel was visible from the railway station. The staff were super friendly and had even provided a little soft toy for our girl in her cot. I could have cried. Superb breakfast, will be back.
The hotel is next to the train station. Location wise superb. Roomservice was doing a great job cleaning the room, there's a fridge! Something that is more and more becoming a luxury. Proper bathroom and cupboard. Overall pleasant stay.
The cleanliness, the amenities that came with the room and the location is great. It was a really comfortable stay for me, the best I had throughout my Germany trip. The hotel seems very new and being new and clean is a major win.
The staff for Hotel Astor, especially Sophie, did an amazing job and went beyond to find us a room to stay in very late in the day with the entire city booked out.
Hotel upholds to general quality standards of ibis hotels: rather small but clean and modern rooms, fair breakfast, good location. Staff was very friendly
