Friendly, helpful staff. Option of packed lunch instead of breakfast was excellent. Very narrow entrance to car park needs care on entry/exit and manoeuvring but shouldn't be a problem to anyone that has passed a driving test. Comfortable room overlooking the main street but very quiet. Would book again.

The village setting was very beautiful but quite remote. That was not a problem for us because we loved the surrounding countryside..

Do yourself a favour and stay here! Original old building that’s been tastefully updated - great bathroom with lovely products, comfy couch and bed, garden view, good lighting, connectivity and plenty of good coffee/tea etc. Hosts friendly and helpful. Restaurant downstairs is delightful and served best food we’ve had in UK. Lovely countryside, good pub just down the road. Best place we’ve stayed. Loved it. 😊

We saw the town on a Sunday. Vey quiet.
We saw the town on a Sunday. Vey quiet. However, there is more to the town than first glance (just), but too much retail - so much unoccupied. Given history, very little historic class on view. The hey day has gone, what now? Perfect accommodation, very close to town.

There are some really interesting shops and businesses in the town centre. Sadly, in common with many towns, there are too many empty/closed shops and rundown buildings. That said Carmarthen's location is ideal for visiting the NBGW

Carmarthen was a nice town to walk around for a day but I wouldn’t want to stay longer than a long weekend. The castle was locked with no reason or explanation when the internet states it’s open ? Many tourists were also under the same impression as us and miss informed by Google.

For a bank holiday and festival weekend, there seemed to be very little going on. Difficult to find a restaurant meal, so had to get takeaway. From that point of view, we probably didn't see the town at its best.
Enjoyed a trip on the steam railway, and few minutes drive from the town, and know from previous visits to the area that the surrounding countryside is lovely,as is the river.
We stayed at the Ivy Bush Hotel Carmarthen overnight in the 16-17 December
Booking in was very easy and the receptionist was very helpful
Instead of a restaurant meal we decided to opt for a bar meal.
The room was excellent and we both slept very well
The breakfast menu was excellent. there was a wide choice, and I could not fault it
On booking out on the 17th the conditions were very icy and the receptionist Rhian was
very helpful in assisting us and with loading the car. We were very grateful to her.
We had a delightful stay at the beautiful countryside cottage in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The cottage exudes elegance and coziness, complemented by breathtaking surroundings with a charming river view. Anne, the host, is not only friendly but also incredibly supportive—a truly down-to-earth woman. The convenient location, just five minutes from Skanda Vale Temple, adds to the overall appeal of this wonderful retreat.
Excellent breakfast - really, really delightful staff at serving breakfast. So helpful and friendly. A very happy team - made our stay 10/10. The room was also spotlessly clean! All in all FANTASTIC. Carmarthen county council should take a leaf out of your book and stop litter ( cans & drink bottles ) being left in the streets. What a pity - although we still loved the town AND SPILMAN HOTEL!
My friends and I really like the apartment, it’s clean, very spacious, and very comfortable. Away from noisy and busy city. We got everything that we needed, supermarket is just 12 mins away and there’s a pub in front of the apartment. We enjoyed our stay and great location to explore the south wales..Would love to stay in this place again, and I greatly recommend this place.
Very peaceful location, a perfect place to de-stress but not a difficult last little distance from the main fuel carriage way, a very convenient location for exploring south Wales and getting away from the hustle and bustle.
Also the Hot Tub was always fantastically warm and clean.
On the last evening we got a visit from a local hedgehog.
Really genuine and friendly- hard working people. Beautiful place to stay with good access to West and South Wales. There is nothing about the place or the owners to dislike. I travel for work and intend using this b&b regularly if possible. There is also the self catering option available in the same grounds.
I had some concerns after reading some reviews. Yes it is a pub and there is no reception but it was a great place to stay. I heard no nose at night trim the pub. And it was a good experience being in a welsh pub watching Wales win a match in the rugby cup. Food was very good. Staff very nice
Wish we would have found this place years ago, we come down to south wales once or twice a year. Bringing our dog means we are limited to were we can stay, but the potting shed is just what we needed. The potting shed was like a TARDIS, the pictures don't do it justice.
Wonderful room which was very comfortable and had all the necessary facilities. Also a fridge in the room which was an unexpected extra. The breakfast was well cooked. The location was great as it was in the centre of the town and included parking. Friendly staff
We enjoyed the bar, clean and hot showers, and the possibility to check in late at night. The owner/bartender is a great man who traveled the world and gave great recommendations for our travels around Wales. We would love to stay again!
We always have a good time when we visit Kaowood Country Park which is why we have booked again for next year. We also like Wales and use Kaowood as a base to visit local towns and villages
Absolutely everything , anybody thinking of taking a break with the clean fresh air in Wales just go ahead and book as soon as you can . The host couldn't make you more welcome
Fantastic facilities. This lady gives you more quality than the best hotels. So much variety for breakfast and evening drinks. Great value and lovely place.
This location was beautiful the only thing I would say is make sure you drive because it is in the middle of nowhere and taxi one way to town cost £30 .
