The hotel is quaint and old-fashioned in a positive way, as I almost expected to see Miss Marple there. The free parking in the nearby streets was a bonus. From the moment that I arrived, I had a warm welcome from the reception, who were very helpful. The room and its facilities were just as i required as I was attending a conference in the town. The breakfast was well-presented and tasty - I recommend the mushroom omelette. It was a pleasure to eat in the conservatory, and I must point out that the waiters were very professional. The room was very clean and it is to the credit of the housekeeping team, who are often overlooked.

We had a lovely curry near old town and great food in the crown and Anchor. Not forgeting the Bandstand where we saw a fantastic Motown band. Always good acts on there and two bars.!. We thought Eastbourne town was awful and were very sorry we went at all. Even during the day, you could smell drugs in the air and there was fighting in the streets, people racing cars and motorbikes, nearly knocking pedestrians down and even with the constant police presence, we did not feel safe. Never going near the place again!

We planned to visit the Towner Gallery, but it was closed to prepare for the next exhibition. Enjoyed a show at the Devonshire theatre. Walks along the prom are nice, and views from the pier great. Eastbourne is a traditional seaside town that sees to be hanging in there better than most, although there are pockets of deprivation. Great for a few days break.
The guy who dealt with us could not have been nicer,he was welcoming, informative and very polite. The hotel is charming and in a great location right at the seafront and just a few minutes walk to the shops and train station. We had full English breakfast which was lovely and good value. The room we stayed in was small but satisfactory for a couple of nights stay ,if I was staying longer I would book a larger room . Ample tea, coffee toiletries etc, hairdryer, iron and fan .Comfortable open seating areas on the ground floor and a small bar.
The hotel is located right in front of the beach. 12min walk from the railway station. Many cafés and restaurants around. The single room was somewhat small but had all I need and was very clean. Bed comfortable and the shower worked very well. I am so glad I booked this hotel! I got an upgrade on my room and it made my stay even better! Monica at the reception was absolutely amazing and helpful. The whole staff was. My first visit to Eastbourne was an amazing experience thanks to Alexandra hotel.
excellent location right on the seafront, had a single room with a balcony with sea view which was great. Had bath sheets in the bathroom which was a lovely bonus. Breakfast was great, table service served without being rushed such a nice change from a buffet. Room clean and staff very polite, a housekeeper commented to me without being prompted "it is a lovely place to work" A great ambiance to the hotel. A lovely stay
What can I say? I've stayed in Eastbourne many times but never found Gyves Guesthouse until now - what a find!
Everything went well, lovely hosts, lovely room, excellent facilities, fabulous breakfast including a gluten free option which made me very happy. Home made bread, home grown vegetables, all delicious.
Just off the seafront and a short walk to everything - pier, town centre, wish tower, art gallery....
The room was very basic and the building is a bit run down, the shower had very little pressure. however for what we paid it was absolutely fine. the view was to the rear of the hotel, but that was fine we were not spending lots of time in the room.
the food was very good, the bar prices were very good, the staff were friendly and helpful. we would stay again but would pay a bit more for a better room.
Loved the location and view of the seafront, beds were very comfortable staff were lovely and very helpful with everything and for information about where everything is in surrounding area. The bar was a lovely area too we were all very happy and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at West Rocks hotel and will certainly return for another adventure thanks West rocks 🥰 .
The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast at the moment but they can provide a really excellent bag with croissants, yoghurt, butter jam etc. at the reception. I liked the room decor which retained some original features with modern lighting. Loved the fish wallpaper on the feature wall.
Also, they give you a handy map of nearby restaurants (with discount vouchers).
Room is really clean and comfortable. We got rear facing bedrooms as we got a cheap last minute deal, but hotel staff were really helpful and room was perfect for what we needed. They also let us keep our luggage for a few hours after checkout while we were exploring Eastbourne the same day. Will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in the area.
Well located, beside the beach, fantastic view from our balcony/window, and we can see Eastbourne Pier from there. Shopping area is like 5-10 mins walk from the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, hot buffet with variety. They sell council parking permit for £2 which allow you to do street parking right outside the hotel till 11am next day.
I had read a few reviews before visiting the Burlington so it was just about what I expected. A beautiful old fashioned hotel on a British seafront. It's clean and friendly, the food is good and the atmosphere fairly welcoming. A little run down but that doesn't get in the way. Eastbourne is lovely.
Great location near the seafront in Eastbourne, the hotel room was spacious and comfortable with plenty of natural light. Less than 5 minutes to the beach (which can be seen from the windows at the front of the property) and less than 10 minutes walk to Eastbourne's iconic pier.
Clean well appointed apartment hotel with friendly helpful staff 5 minutes walk from the seafront in a quiet neighbourhood. Station and town centre is 10 minutes walk away and there are restaurants and cafes nearby. I enjoyed my stay here and would happily return. Recommended
The hotel is well positioned for the seafront, and a reasonable walk to the town centre. The staff seemed helpful when we saw them, which was not that often as they were always busy. We got a big, light and airy room with windows on two sides overlooking the theatre.
Excellent stay, highly recommend. Exceeded expectations. Great location near seafront, town centre & a great selection of restaurants /spotless and modern hotel/great breakfast/ outdoor seating area, very friendly and hospitable hosts, we will be returning.
Friendly responsive staff took really good care of us, really went the extra mile to help. Excellent breakfasts, great location on the beach and easy walk to local attractions/restaurants. Relaxed vibe at the hotel, not over faced with rules, no hassles.
more modern than most seafront hotels in Eastbourne
A parking pass is available from reception at a small cost with spaces along the seafront.
Comfortable room with good aircon and nice toiletries
Breakfast was plentiful and served with a smile.
A beautifully manicured and lovingly maintained historic hotel. It's a tribute to the staff and management how well the hotel is cared for. In fact, I can confidently say The Hydro is my 'Résidence de choix' when I am in Eastbourne!
Excellent breakfast however sausages were of poor taste, staff were very hard working and friendly hotel looked tired in places situated on right on the seafront there is parking at rear I would say it value for money.
The hotel is very clean and nice.Near to the beach, around 50m. Staff was very helpful. The room was with sea view and small area with tv. Breakfast ( buffet) was modest but delisious. It was a cery pleasant stay.
