Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus...
An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
A lovely hotel in delightful setting. Parking was easy. Martina was most welcoming. We had a spacious balcony with table and chairs overlooking the garden. The room was pleasant and comfortable. However, that day it was about 30 degrees. The air con was not on and it was explained that it is not switched on until June. It would have been better if that information had been available at the time of booking. The owners son expressed his regret and as a sweetner
kindly offered us breakfast gratis which turned out to be very nice.
Location was superb, in the center of Aosta. The owner, Marco, was such an amazing host. He greeted us with a welcome platter of local meats and left us treats such as local cookies and certificates for cappuccinos at the local restaurant downstairs. The place was much bigger than the pictures made it appear and had everything you could want (portable air conditioners, heater fans, iron and board, high quality hairdryer, coffee pot as well as coffee pod machine. It was a huge benefit to have two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
This is one of the most charming little places to stay we know. There are just two bedrooms which are beautifully appointed. We have found hotels in Italy are cleaner than many places in Europe and this one is particular was spotlessly clean. The owner, Alessandra, is equally charming and hospitable. We have twice stopped here on our way from the UK down into Italy. It's not the most obvious location for an overnight stop, but well worth the 15 minute drive off the motorway.
We spent an enjoyable and relaxing weekend here. Our stay was very comfortable and the food, both breakfast and dinner, made using quality local ingredients, was excellent. The hostesses were exemplary (and helpfully spoke good English). The hotel is in a tiny village a few kilometres up the hill above the fascinating Roman city of Aosta. Our room was sizeable, well decorated and spotless and had beautiful views over the Aosta Valley and the Italian Alps.
We had the most enjoyable weekend at hotel Diana! The rooms are spacious enough and clean. The breakfast has plenty of good choices (coffee is great btw). The spa is extraordinary, we were not expecting such fancy spa facilities. Plus, you can privatize the spa in the evening for a unique experience! But the most enjoyable part was probably how nice and welcoming the staff was. We will be back. Thank you
Best Hotel in the World! Amazing location, welcoming staff and an outstanding offer of amenities, just a stone throw away from downtown Aosta. Incredible price/quality ratio.
Eating at the partner restaurant was the best culinary experience in my life: clean, fancy, efficient staff and the best Italian food I ever tasted, special offers available only to hotel clients.
This Hotel is a gem. Staff are friendly and helpful, It's so nice after a long drive to be greeted with a friendly face. It's not far from the Motorway, great parking (even with a roofbox). Lovely outside seating area under the shadow of the Alps. Food was excellent. We were really taken by this hotel and will definitely use it every time we drive to Italy.
Fabulous stay! We were walking the Via Francigena and this was the best place we stayed in Italy by that stage. The loft apartment was modern, clean and wonderful. We used the discount card to purchase locally made foods and wine for dinner we brought back to enjoy in the apartment. Right in the heart of Aosta yet great for a quiet nights rest. Thank you!!
the hotel is ideally located in the Centro and yet perfectly tucked away on a quiet street. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were accommodating to our needs. We had a lovely stay and will happily return in the winter next year for skiing.
The hotel's location is just exceptional, 1 min from the town center, and for my money there was enough parking for the season, but I think there's a shortage of space in summer. All in all, we had a pleasant stay in Aosta. The breakfast is copious and well followed.
in Centro is perfectly located within a minutes walk of the centre of Aosta with great bars and restaurants and only a 6 minute walk to the ski lift. the property was clean easy accessible and finished to a high standard, it suited our needs perfectly
The hotel is awesome. It is run by a family who is extremely friendly and polite. The restaurant in the hotel serves great local food, again prepared amazingly well. We will sure be back here for another vacation in the future!
21Barra5 is an amazing guest house located just outside of Aosta. The place is super clean and has a modern design.
The hosts were very friendly and helped us whenever we needed extra help during our stay.
Highly recommend!
The apartment is located in the centre of Aosta, just few steps to reach the old-town. Careofour supermarket is just across the street. We got a parking place to park a car. The host was very helpfull and friendly.
Quiet, kitchen included with everything.
Parking inside the premises, with charging station (a wallbox).
Near Aosta.
Hotel personal is super nice, friendly and helpful, making you feel welcomed and at home.
I have used this hotel on a number of occassions and have no complaints about the staff nor the accomidation. It is in the centre of Aosta surrounded by Restaurants cafe and shops
This hotel was amazing from the comfortable rooms to the beautiful setting and decorations! The breakfast was outstanding! One of the best places we have stayed in all of Italy!
Fantastic location in Aosta. Our host Alberto was wonderful and very attentive. Easy check in and parking was right at the property with easy access. Super clean.
