Kyoto on 1st presentation is a modern,, not particularly attractive, city. However, the historic areas, particularly the gardens, are well worth seeking out. It is also interesting to see a contemporary city that is not overwhelming Western. Kyoto has its own character.

Kyoto is incredible if you're into either art, gastronomy, nature, history. The architecture wether it be land marks or merely quiet neighborhoods is a dream. As a faun and flaura enthusiast , I could've stayed weeks. Transportation was simple and the city is also close to breathtaking natural beauties. The restaurants were great (I recommend going on Japanese foodie blogs and using Google translate). We adored Kyoto!

Its quieter, even though Golden week, it was quiet, polite, comfortable and easy walking on the flat with a few gradients nearer the shrines. I prefer this place to the bigger citys and it seems the locals take you for granted without being effusive nor the opposite. We found plenty of eateries. The train systems are fun to navigate and there is plenty of English spoken. It was dry most of our time, temperatures ideal. First week of May.

I loved the cute little, old streets and all the cafes and restaurants to visit. Also the ambience was lovely! 🥰
I loved seeing the moss-covered figurines at the temple as well as the bamboo forest.
There are a lot of buses, but sometimes I got a little bit lost on how to reach my place…

Kyoto is a must see destination.
Kyoto is a must see destination. We were there in the spring to see the cherry blossoms, but I know every season has something different to offer. We will have to return to see more!
We did a half day bike tour, which was very fun and a great way to see Kyoto up close. Lots of walking. Great food and shopping. See the bottom level of Takashimaya to view all the food choices. Nishiki market was great for viewing and buying food.
Staffs were friendly and check-in instructions were clear, do note that if you are checking-in before the check-in time, luggages needs to be stored in the guest centre near kyoto station instead. But there's a free luggage delivery service to the hotel from the guest centre. Rooms were spotless clean and comfortable. Good size as well. It's super convenient to have a washer, dryer in the toilet is just the best thing. All clothes gets dried in a matter of hours. There are also several 24 hours convenience stores around as well.
We had the best stay in this hotel out of all the hotels booked in Japan during our trip as we stayed for 6 days. Rooms are spacious, modern with all the required facilities. There was common wash machine and dried on 2nd floor. Staff were super helpful as they were ready to fulfill all our requests and even stored and transported our luggage to their branch near Kyoto station which really made our journey so comfortable. Location is good and close to Central Kyoto station. Nearby metro and grocery stores is only 10 mins walk
Beautiful Ryokan in the middle of Kyoto, walking distance to popular districts while having a relaxing location. The staff were beyond welcoming and made us feel at home. They provided traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner which was delicious. Sleeping in the traditional Japanese tatami beds was one of the best sleeps I've had, they provided pyjamas and yakata/robes to wear around the hotel. It was like a well serviced and welcoming BnB. I definitely would stay here again and wish I had stayed longer than 2 days.
The hotel is right across from Kyoto Station so it is super easy to get around to visit all the major tourist sights. Also, having all the shops and restaurants available in the station added to the convenience. Mac, the English bloke at the front desk, was really helpful with insider information about what to see and how to get around. He had his trusty iPad handy to show us not only places of interest but also the best ways to get there. Mimaru was by far our best stay during our visit to Tokyo and Kyoto!
The location is great - right in the Gion and surrounded by little restaurants, winding narrow lanes of traditional houses, and close to many good temples. Some of the best restaurants are nearby - must book months ahead, however. Hotel was very cool and contemporary, and a great value. Room was very small, so if you have tons of luggage, maybe not for you. The public bath was a beautiful, and well-designed smaller version, with very modern surfaces and lighting. Well worth visiting.
The best hotel we have stayed in and it felt sad to leave even if we already stayed for 5 days. The room is exceptional and really perfect for our family with kids. It has enough space so we felt comfortable all throughout our stay. Location is also really good having easy access to Umekoji-Kyotonishi station which is one station away from Kyoto station. There's also a 7-eleven, Family Mart, and Starbucks nearby which is super nice. All in all our family loved our stay so much!
The hotel is very well located, close to the subway station and walking distance to many touristic attractions. The hotel amenities are very well maintained, with a very easy self check-in/check-out, and another big plus is the staff, they people are the best, always willing to help and very kind. The breakfast at the The Taste restaurant worth the price, you can have a great breakfast for a fair price. Loved the stay at the Sequence Kyoto Gojo.
The staff are super information.
The wifi are strong, 3minute walk to subway station, 3mins walk to bus station.
5 mins walk to 7-11, 8 mins walk to family mark, so the location is basically the best. Gojo station only one station to Kyoto Station, so it is super convenient.
Microwave at the lobby, laundry just 10 mins walk away from hotel
The hotel room is okay for 2 people. but we got big luggage so its quite difficult to open up.
One of the best guesthouse I had stayed in Japan!Everything was perfect. It’s hidden in a very quiet neighborhood but location is really good, because it’s close to subway station, konbini and near Gion.
You can feel the ryokan vibe when it comes to furniture and design. Very comfortable and big beds. Nice balcony. Clean rooms, bathrooms, kitchen. Wi-if works perfectly. You can also make a laundry for free! Affordable price.
The location — it was in walking distance to all of Gion and the north and south Higashiyama temples as well as easy connect to subways/train. The staff — simply kind and splendid. The room — the best bed in a very comfortable room. The restaurant— lovely breakfast and quality meals at lunch and dinner that I would have chosen even if I had not been staying at the hotel. It is the perfect boutique hotel. I loved it.
It's an amazing hotel with just the necessary amenities for a solo traveler! Great location, close to the train station entrances and right next to Nishiki Market Street, one of the best places in Kyoto to buy local omiyage and foods! This was my second time staying and I'll definitely stay again whenever I return to Kyoto!
One of the best places for value we stayed at during our Japan trip. Hotel Elcient's location was great, you can see it the instant you exit the station. It was also close to 7/11, busses and major sights. Hotel staff were very helpful and made our stay all the smoother. Definitely somewhere I'll chose to stay at again :)
Probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. It’s right across Kyoto Station, the room I got has great space. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is clean. The breakfast was generally okay though I wish they would put allergy labels on them.
Very quiet even though it was located on a main street. Super near Gion and a subway station 3 min walk from the hotel. Convenience store below the hotel.
The room's style reminds of a Ryokan. Beds are very comfy.
Everything was wonderful! King room was very comfortable, staff were welcoming and helpful with recommendations, very clean, excellent location for exploring Gion and surrounds. Our best hotel experience in Japan!
Great location, amazing amenities, kind staff, and the onsen was so relaxing. The best capsule hotel you could stay at - felt like a 5 star hotel. Just so many thoughtful touches and the staff go above and beyond.
Best location for travellers, very close to public transport such as train station and bus stop just front of the Hotel.
The room so roomy with seperate bathroom and toilet.
