Sultan Sands Island Resort, hotel in Kiwengwa

Located on the beachfront with views of the Indian Ocean, Sultan Sands offers traditional-style African huts with a balcony or terrace.

Best thing about hotel is that you can ask whatever you want and 99% of your wishes come true. As European I like some things made differently as they are in Africa but if you ask the hotel staff makes it! As example I can say they make awsome tuna stakes if you ask them! And they also add rum to your coconut if you ask. So the main tip is - ASK! Moreover, as experienced travelwr I have been reading reviews about the hotel and two things were very disturbing (a) that the selection of food os not very rich; and (b) that the tides make the sea go away for a far far way. To tackle that I shall say that (a) food is good and changes everyday, so even on 11 night stay you will have a varios optios to choose from (especialy if you are into sea food); (b) tides are constant but there was no day with out sea at your foot steps to the pool, meaning that some times you have to wait half a day before sea comes back but it eventualy does.

Kiwengwa is a perfect place to spend time with the family. Exquisit nature, kind people and the best food. Boat trips, beach activities, village strolls, getting to know the culture of local people who are very knowlegeable about the natural agriculture and extreemly kind and nice. I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water.

I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water. The sand was so soft and almost white. I didn't like the hassle on the beach though. It was easier to stay at the hotel to avoid it. But that's not why you visit another country!

Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest.

Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest. That meant fewer people and tranquility which was what I was looking for during that trip. The hotel was also exactly what I need. All the facilities (gym, massage, sports activities) + excellent food at a reasonable cost. And Fatma the day manager was great. A wonderful person and soul

Zanzibella is the best place to stay in Zanzibar. The location is perfect and the rooms are super clean and very big and comfortable for a couple. The staff is so friendly and especially Chaimae with whom we had close communication even before our trip and arranged everything for us. She was even there when she was not working. She made our stay wonderful. The beach is very quiet. The food is exemplary and they provide good entertainment with too many shows. I would highly and with no hesitations recommend Zanzibella.

The hotel is a true gem. It is on the southern part of Kiwengwa village, which is very calm and has a beautiful beach right in front. The property has a very nice beach area with hammocks, loungers and mattresses where you can hang out at the beach the whole day. The food was exceptional, portion size and taste wise. And not to forget the staff, who were all very kind, attentive and made sure we enjoyed our stay. We fully recommend staying at this hotel in this beautiful hidden gem part of the island.

I loved my stay at Zan View Hotel. The staff was very helpful throughout our journey, always ready to accommodate us and very friendly. The location is perfect for someone looking for a quiet and calm area. I was happy to go through the village to get to the beach, it allowed me to meet wonderful people and to get in touch with the local culture. I booked most of my activities through the hotel and it went very well. I would gladly stay there again if I ever go back to Zanzibar!

Zanbluu is a truly fantastic hotel on the East coast of Zanzibar. The pool area is beautifully designed, really spacious and the pool was fantastic. Our lodge was also amazing - exactly as on the pictures with lovely view to the sea. The food was excellent - dinner menu was particularly good which changed every day. Overall we were really happy with our stay - if you fancy switching off and not doing much (other than sunbathing) this is the perfect place for you.

My stay was great, I had the peace and quiet I was looking for. I purposely choose an intimate hotel as I don’t like crowded places. Friendly staff, really good cleaning service, restaurant food is very good. Was really happy with the private beach access that brought a luxurious aspect to my stay in Zanzibar. As a solo traveler, I felt safe in the room and hotel itself. If I ever go back in Zanzibar, I would probably stay at Imara again.

Everything. This Zanzibar experience was as good as we could have asked for. First and foremost, the staff was incredible. We felt welcomed and secure to sit back and relax. The food, pools, beach, drinks, excursions, and spa were second to the people but they have everything. I’m sure there are a lot of good places to stay on Zanzibar but I’d stay here again knowing we will have a great time!

I live in Zanzibar for 7 years now, I come to Z lodge often to escape the busy and noisy life of Nungwi, the owners make a lot of effort on their service and menu's are always new. The location has minimal beach boys so you can enjoy some private time on the beach. We love this place and can easily recommend it.

It's very nice smaller hotel than BlueBay which makes it more comfortable and quieter. The food is tasty and even there is no huge selection it's good enough. Stuff is professional so it makes your stay very pleasant and relaxing. I think that this is very good choice if you go to visit Zanzibar.
