The owners were very friendly and helpful. We were made very welcome on arrival. The room was lovely with a very nice shower unit. Comfy bed and a nice hospitality tray for tea / coffee etc. Breakfasts were very good and nicely made. Everything was well thought out and spotlessly clean. We'd not been to this specific part of Cornwall and the owners gave us some recommendations for places to visit, all of which turned out to be good choices. "Charlestown" is very close and is a stunning little coastal town with one of the most inspiring harbours we've seen yet. The more recent episodes of "Poldark" were filmed there as we understand and it has the right look, with real sailing ships moored. Parking was easy and the views were literally stunning. We visited both nights that we were staying. First night we ate at "The Rashleigh Arms" and enjoyed the food there. The harbour is surrounded with a number of little eating and drinking places so "al-fresco" was definitely the thing and we ate at one of them the second night. A lovely experience. We also went to "St Mawes". A lovely place again. Not to be missed. We were lucky with the weather .... wall-to-wall sun and blue skies but Cornwall can be lovely at any time. Penarth was a nice place to stay and we would do again.

This award-winning boutique guest house is situated in the heart of the Cornish countryside, just 3 miles from the beach. You can enjoy fresh breakfast each morning and scenic walks in the surrounding area.

The location is perfect, secluded but close to harbour village Mevagissey. The hosts Mike and Janie couldn’t have been more welcoming, engaging and friendly. The cooked breakfasts in the morning were the perfect way to start the day and visit with the other guests. Absolutely stunning place for a getaway.

Merlin runs a lovely little guesthouse; very friendly and welcoming. My bed was really comfortable, the bathroom a decent size and the fridge in the room was most useful. Being in the Blue Room, I had bird feeders on the window and plenty of bird food to fill them with; a nice touch. Nikki (Merlin's mom) is a great host, warm and down-to-earth. She also makes rather good poached eggs! It's relaxed, easy and unpretentious - and I really enjoyed my stay.

Really comfortable room with french doors opening onto a lovely garden with chairs, fountain, etc. Large bed, very good shower, clean and quiet. Parking was off the main road and secure. The hosts were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Although it was booked as a room only, they now provide a wonderful continental style breakfast with lots of cereals, fresh fruit, toast, coffee, tea, etc. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back if in the area again.

Breakfast was excellent. The land lady who cooked for us was also a great host and really helpful. It's a great location for the Eden Project and only 15 minutes to Charlestown. Really close to the A30 too. Kettle, and ingredients for hot drinks. A great price for basic B&B.

Superb, beautifully decorated and comfortable guesthouse with friendly and helpful hosts. A great location for visiting the Eden Project, St, Austell and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Fantastic breakfast with various options and combinations which you pre order the night before. There is a beautiful decked garden area with seating and a small bar for warm nights. Our room overlooked the stables up the hill so we could see the horses. Would definitely visit again if in that area and will highly recommend to friends and family.
