Situated in Varkala and with Varkala Beach reachable within 500 metres, The Barefoot Varkala features a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace. Wow - what a great place. Karthik and Vikash have done a wonderful job with this hostel. It has a great family/community vibe, without being a party hostel. It’s pretty new (as of Feb 2024) so everything is squeaky clean. Beds are clean and comfortable and AC in the AC dorm is great. Also the Wifi is really fast. There’s areas upstairs and downstairs for chilling out and meeting fellow travellers, and the staff are great at organising activities - like surf lessons and kayaking in the mangrove forest. There’s cafes/restaurants very close by, and the main tourist strip on the Varkala cliff is about 10 minutes walk away. Can’t wait to go back.

Situated in Ernakulam, 14 km from Kochi Biennale, Zostel Kochi (Ernakulam) features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The hostel was very clean, everything was new and worked well. It was nicely furnished. There was warm water in shower. Lot of space in the room and common area. The common area seemed good for socializing. There wasn't a kitchen but a place to eat your own food and wash your dishes. Air conditioning worked well in the room. There was a television in the common area from which you could probably watch movies. There was nice music in common area. The place was peaceful. I could leave my luggages in the hostel for few hours after checking out. There was a small cafe from where you could buy drinks like coffee, juices and maybe some cutted fruits.

Situated in Wayanad, 18 km from Heritage Museum, Crossroads Hostel 1957 features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. The hostels pretty new but you won't ever feel that, not because something's broken or unhinged but because the hosts are so good at handling everything and because everything you could possibly think of is already provided..makes it seem like they've been doing this for years. The hosts are super hospitable. The food's lovely. There's always some pretty music playing in the background so the ambience is well maintained. Just a 10/10, can't believe how much we lucked out finding about this place.

I highly appreciated the hostel's top-notch management, outstanding customer service, and their consistent support for all needs. It's a secure haven in Fort Kochi, highly recommended for solo female travelers.

I have been welcomed greatly by everyone and was always helped when needed. The room was basic but clean. The common area is very beautiful and the place is surrounded by nature

I've been to Hostel Gandhi in Chennai as well. Comparing it to Chennai, this is a smaller property, a renovated Kerala-style home, clean, and well-kept.

Set within 13 km of Kochi Biennale and 3.4 km of Cochin Shipyard, CosyCove offers rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Ernakulam. A clean, comfortable and cosy hostel that is great for backpackers or short termers. Location is also good as you can walk to the metro station and the jetty.

Set in Varkala, 200 metres from Odayam Beach, House Of Surf Hostel for Women offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Although I only stayed one night the service was incredible. Swati took such good care of me, it was very heart warming. The place was undergoing some construction and I was the only one there (which led to my decision to move) but once they're back on track and full of guests I think staying there will be a blast. Rooms are beautiful, cozy beds and close to beautiful odayam beach.
