Beautiful location - for me it was worth it even though it is about a 30 minute walk to the main tourist street. Honestly it is nice being away from the tourist trap main drag even though I was only there for a few days. The road that leads to the hostel has lots of shops, some restaurants and bars, the sister hostel’s travel cafe, and Rachna Bookstore for great books and food. So if you are around for a while its great. The property is set in dense greenery, and does indeed have lots of birdlife. Great common spaces, great balconies, great food for the set dinners (I didn’t have the breakfast or lunch), and the staff is super knowledgeable, especially Saran. They have a deeper and somewhat offbeat lost of things to do in Gangtok, and will organize hikes for groups from the hostel. The standout for me here was the design - an amazing space compared to any other hostel I’ve been to in India. And very clean :)

Zostel Rinchenpong (Pelling) is situated in Rinchingpong and has a garden and a shared lounge. There is a restaurant serving Indian cuisine, and free private parking is available. The place is just amazing. Very peaceful.

Located in Gangtok, 1.1 km from Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Zemu Gangtok provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Staff were really excellent and very helpful. Also very knowledgeable about trains and busses for onward journey as well as local sites. Whilst we were told it is a party hostel everyone staying there was nice and very friendly even though we are now getting on a bit. Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Would recommend to all.

Il Tag Along Backpackers si trova a Gangtok, a 3,1 km dal Namgyal Institute of Tibetology e a 5 km dal Ganesh Tok View Point. The best part of this hostel is the staff, the vibe and the community, which centers around the cafe. The cafe is a great place to meet people. The staff is engaged and organizes great outings. Most importantly, the owners and most staff are engaged in the local community and are super knowledgeable. Tag Along and Tag Along 2.0 were my best hostel experiences in 5 months in India, and are a model of what hostels should be.
