Tomboys Cottage nestles above a small croft called the Water Meadow , on the edge of the Dove Valley . This makes for staggeringly beautiful scenery and an ideal rural hideaway . To rear of the cottage is a courtyard with a sunny patio area garden chairs on both the patio and in the courtyard view point. There is a small wooded plantation and sheep and cows in the distant fields and dales . One guest said it was so peaceful you could hear the sound of silence with the occasional birdsong . There are views in every direction and walks from the door down the country lanes onto the glorious hills and dales of the Peak District . The pretty village of Hartington is only a short drive(2 miles) with its duck pond, village green, shops pubs and farm shop. Good for a meal ,beer and or cream tea. The cottage is converted from a 15th century barn with an eye to quality and comfort with a modern layout and furnishings . Lovely bathroom with bath and shower ,sofas to stretch out on and cosy rugs and throws to provide comfort with a focal point of a traditional fire place Well equipped kitchen electric cooker ,microwave. Free WIFI / TV .CH keeps the cottage cosy and warm.
We are the Gibbs Family, and have been in charge of Wolfscote Grange Farm and Holiday Cottages for the past 4 generations, it is a working farm, with 500 sheep and 100 cows, that we welcome our guests to look around with our supervision. There is a sheepdog Nelly, and a kitten Buffy that would love to meet you! We invite children and adults to help with feeding the lambs in the spring . We enjoy welcoming guests to our beautiful part of the world and sharing our knowledge of the local events and beauty spots . As a family we love exploring our beautiful Peak District so we love to share our knowledge with you in the form of a written detailed file or talk with us and ask. We are at handout hand so you can speak with us and we can assist if needed .
The neighbourhood that we are positioned in, has everything from walking, to outdoor activities to Alton Towers and lovely market towns such as Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell. The market towns of Ashbourne (with swimming pool and squash courts Bakewell famous for the Bakewell Pudding are 8 and 12 miles away respectively. The town of Buxton famous for its spa has the lovely Buxton Opera House and Crescent .Extensive shops cafes and gardens . Close by Chatsworth House and Gardens, Haddon Hall and the fun packed Alton Towers approximately a 20 minute drive .
