Sam the lovely lady who run the pub\hotel was exceptional. She was very warm and welcoming. She went out of her way to make our stay most comfortable especially due to me being unwell on arrival. She took me to our room and said if I needed anything to let her know.even meals in my room. She was very caring and certainly added a personal touch which made all the difference to our stay. She was also very friendly as was her daughter Brooke and made conversation with us and enquired to my wellbeing whenever she could. They are truly an asset to the business and I would not hesitate to stay with them again.

Fond memories of our night at the Engine Inn. Mostly of the cheeky bartender and a couple on a getaway weekend. (Babs, you know i'm talking about you!) Food was great, company was great. Together with family, it was a good night in Holker!!

We had a cosy corner in the bar with her for breakfast and dinner. Fish and chips were excellent. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. One of the best English hotels I have ever stayed in.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Some nice touches such as hand-wash, hand cream, shower gel, apple juice and complementary biscuits. All local produce. The pub was cosy with a log fire and rustic feel. We had stayed in Scotland for weekend so was just a stopover to break up the journey home so was good for what we needed.KellyYoung couple
