I also loved the sauna and tranquil yoga studio which was perfect to unwind after a very long journey. The hotel is in a very interesting area of Helsinki which is a short tram or bus ride away from the city centre. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe getting to and from the hotel, even late at night. Breakfast was lovely too.

Whether you’re here for relaxation or adventure, Lapland provides a perfect blend of comfort, quality service, and exceptional amenities. I can’t wait to return!

Housed in a converted prison from 1837, this atmospheric hotel is found on Katajanokka Island in central Helsinki. The hotel is charming - a tastefully converted prison! The room we had was perfect - everything worked! The hotel is perfectly situated for the Viking Line terminal and is right on the number 4 tram route which makes getting into the city centre very easy (although this is a very pleasant 15 minute walk if you don't want to use the tram). The breakfast offering is superb and the dinner menu is excellent with freshly cooked and well presented dishes. The staff are very welcoming and exceptionally helpful.
