Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe WiFi signal does not reach the whole hotel, there was no signal at all in our room so we had to go to the communal space if we needed it and even there the internet was very slow. The breakfast is very basic even for hostel standards and could start earlier to help us leave early for the trails. Also, given the price we were not expecting that we had to clean our dishes. We understand it is a hostel but the private rooms are not cheap, we were not expecting these issues.
Good location. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed.

United KingdomInternet didn’t work in our room so we had to be in the shared areas to use it. Internet is a bit patchy all over El Chalten though so might be the same in other places.
We had a private room and it was clean and comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A casual, friendly hostal with ok dorm rooms and a shower/toilet in each dorm. Receptionists very sweet and helpful. Breakfast is basic but adequate. Small kitchen but ok if you want to do simple meals. Nice that's the kitchen is alway clean 👍. The town is small so everything an easy walk.

United StatesThere were 6 bunks in the room but it felt like it should have been for 4 people. There were four lockers and 4 hooks. It was quite cramped. After showering the entire bathroom floor would be soaked and it would take a while for the floor to drain.
The location was great in terms of convenience to the bus station. It was a bit farther to the trails but still walkable. The decorations / aesthetic in the common areas were nice. The receptionists were helpful in providing trail recommendations.

GermanyBreakfast was very basic (had better ones in other argentinian hostels). The door lock of our private room was damaged, there was a gap even when the door was locked so that you heard every noise from outside and it didn't seem very safe. The bathroom is very small, it is difficult to take a shower without flooding the bathroom.
The staff in the hostel is friendly. They organized us a transfer to Lago del desierto. There is a laundry service for little money. The hostel is located very close to the bus station.

BrazilBreakfast, the way it was, should be not included. Not good at all! Only the black coffee was acceptable. Payment was also a problem. They don’t accept neither debit or credit card!!! They use the official exchange rate from USD or BRL. And there’s NO Western Union in El Chalten. So, in case you want to stay at the property, you must take ARG cash enough in order to not be “overcharged” due to the official currency exchange rate.
The bedroom itself was not bad. We got the private room for a couple.

United StatesIt was quite noisy one night. Guests with a guitar started singing about 10pm and when on until about 1am. The shower is so small that the only way to prevent water from soaking the entire bathroom is to get in the shower and start the shower. You have to endure some cold water before it reaches temperature and is comfortable.
This is a lively, comfortable hostel, a short walk from the bus station. I think it's best for travelers seeking a hostel--bunk beds, good common areas for eating/using a laptop and for reading. The kitchen is well-stocked. It's less ideal to book one of the private rooms for 2. Our room was very small with 2 narrow beds and a tiny bathroom. It was quite tight with our packs. The lighting was good in our room, which made it easy to read.

PeruThe position of the electrical outlets in the dorm, they were in a weird position far away from the bed. Pretty much you had to leave your stuff plugged in risky positions hanging. It would be great if the hostel can improve that so every bed had their own.
I liked the price, the fact that the dorm was only 4 beds and the bathroom was inside. It was clean and warm. The dinning space was good and the breakfast had really tasty bread!!
