Better lighting in the rooms and communal bathroom (particularly over the sink area) would greatly improve the overall feel of the place. Given that the top bunk was inaccessible without a ladder the bottom bunks are in complete darkness - a small side lamp would be an excellent touch. Liquid soap in the bathrooms would also increase the hygiene factor.

Very happy with my stay here! I had arrived earlier than the listed check-in time, however staff were very gracious, accommodating and gave me my room without even mentioning it. Location is exceptional and the facilities here are excellent - clean and quite comfortable, and the rooftop is a great place to situate yourself for working from your laptop. I chose this spot as I had to sit for online exams and I was very satisfied with the minimal noise and general respect from other guests. Lastly the cutlery for utilizing their kitchen and additional locker for storage, in addition to the bottle opener on the key chain were very small and well-thought details that were very impressive.

The first room We got was without window therefore didn’t smell too good. We Changed for a room with shared bathroom which had window and it was better .

Staff didn’t speak English, but nobody does in Brazil. Our first room Did not have a window so the room wasn’t very pleasant. Our other room had a window and it was much better.

The kitchen was my favourite. Open big space , sort of roofed terrace, so you’re outside but you’re not :) welll equipped. The staff was sweet. I would definitely stay again.

There is no storage for the luggage so one of us had to stay in the hostel at all times before the check-in/ after the check-out to keep an eye on the stuff. There are only a few bathrooms and they are frequently occupied.

Location was great, very close to the center and just a 15min walk to the bus terminal. The room was ready a bit earlier so we could check-in. We could wait in the common space until it was time to take our bus after check out. The room is nice and clean.

In the beginning there was a bad smell coming from outside, but they managed to change the windows so no more bad smell, but the window doesn’t open so no fresh air. The sound isolation is pretty bad, you can hear anyone walking/talking past your door, but considering the value, it’s understandable.

The location is great, pretty easy to get to everywhere. The staff is also very friendly. It is definitely a good option for those who don’t have a car because it’s near the bus station so you can easily get anywhere.

We booked a room for 4 people but one person wasn’t able to come so I let the property know there would only be 3. They then let us know that our room was now ‘unfit’ and we would be put in a triple room. I said this was fine as there was still enough room but asked if we would be refunded the difference I was told no as it was the same price. When we arrived we’d actually been moved into a twin room with a floor mattress, I messaged again to say this was not a triple room and would I get a partial refund as we’d paid for 4 beds not two and a mattress on the floor. The hostel messaged me back rather rudely saying we could leave immediately and get a full refund but nothing else. So we ended up paying for a room we didn’t receive. Disappointing service and lost money.

It was in a great location, nice and clean and check in was smooth as was all done online.

The hostel is a great location, close to loads of bars and restaurants and only a few minutes walk from the main centre/catedral. The room has air con and a tv and was relatively comfortable for two. The staff were lovely and let us keep our bags behind the desk before we could check in! The communal area/balcony/ kitchen was great.

Our experience at Esquina 8 Hostel was far from what we had hoped for during our visit to Florianópolis. Here's a breakdown of the issues we faced: Severe Bed Bug Infestation: Our intention to stay for two nights was cut short after just one night due to an overwhelming presence of bed bugs, leading to a distressing situation with over 120 bites. Unexpected Expenses: The low cost of the hostel is misleading. The aftermath of dealing with bed bug bites includes potential costs for dry cleaning and the possibility of having to discard affected clothing, making the stay much more expensive than anticipated. Disappointing Service: Upon discovering the bed bug issue, the hostel's initial solution was to offer another room, which did not assure us of a bed bug-free environment. The refund process added to our frustration; we were asked to pay for the first night again at the reception, despite having already paid in full, to then be processed for a refund for our entire stay. We did not agree and sorted things out with booking.com. They refunded half the price, and told me that the owner of hostel did not even got back to them. In summary, while we had hoped for a budget-friendly and enjoyable stay at Esquina 8 Hostel, the reality was a challenging experience that included dealing with bed bugs, unexpected costs, and a service response that did not meet our expectations. For those considering a stay here, we urge caution and recommend reviewing other travelers' experiences as well.

Unfortunately, this stay did not offer positive aspects significant enough to report. Our experience was overwhelmingly negative due to the issues described below.

No stuff for late check in, we arrived and had no water in the tab and shower. Guy who answers the messages seems quite unfriendly, anyways after few hours the problem was solved. Room had no window and stunk a little. Bathroom could need some makeover.

We had booked a twin bedroom which actually turned out to be two single beds placed on top of each other like bunk beds. The beds didn’t have steps or a ladder, so I actually had to climb and dismount like a gymnast to get into and out of the bed. not ideal for anyone with mobility needs. The room itself was very small, almost like a cupboard, with hardly enough space for us to store our bags. We couldn’t both stand up and organise ourselves at the same time. We probably wouldn’t book again purely for this reason.

The location is only a little walk out of the centre of Flori and has good bus links. The shower was hot and the bedrooms secure with a Fob access point. The burger restaurant downstairs is a real treat too.

De room we booked had no window, there was no bed linnen so we were sleeping under a oncovered blanket. The room was dirty too, we found slippers and an empty bottle from previous guests. But the really worst experience was that when we mentioned this trough booking, we got the most rude and unprofessional answer back. He/she said that if they knew we would complain, he never would make check in possible for us..?! It was past 00.00 and he/she was harassing us with saying they would change the code of the door and we could go stand on the street. All of this trough messaging, can you imagine. It was beyond impolite. I have never experienced such bad customor service, we felt so un ease in that room and place. Please, go somewhere else. Don't book this hostel!
