How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The street can be a bit noisy with motorists (our room was closest to the street) but we had ear plugs that helped with that!
Otto and his family were lovely hosts! Upon arrival, Otto welcomed us and shared tips for the area, as well as recommendations for activities to do. He was attentive at sharing instructions for anything we needed during our stay, which was smooth and peaceful. A bonus was the filtered water available to us in the shared kitchen at any time throughout our stay. Another bonus treat was getting visits from our “junior host,” their adorable house cat who was incredibly sweet, friendly, and a welcomed addition to our stay!

Kitchen facilities are quite basic.
Lovely place to say in Paraty! The family were so lovely and helpful during our stay. We don’t speak Portuguese and they went out of their way to help with translations. It was spotlessly clean and they let us store bags ahead of check in.

Super nice place just next to the stream/waterfall and with nice garden and installations. Kitchen very well equipped and staff (specially Maxi) extraordinarily friendly and helpful!

The host, Otto, made you feel at home and he made personal tile to explain the experinces in the city. I could come with any question. This is the real paraty experience. The room brings you back to to the old Paraty. an invitation to explore the old city, that is just around the corner.

Unfortunately the hostel wasn’t in the most safe of areas; inside the hostel felt very safe, but outside we witnessed a fight and there were some shady characters lurking nearby. Again, inside was perfectly safe

The only window goes to the alley, so to have privacy, you have to keep it closed and turn the lights on.
Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Location is great. You can walk to the historical center and also to the bus station. Comfortable bed Hot water.

The pousada is beautiful and perfectly located, on a quiet street very close to the historic center. You can feel how much care the family that runs it puts into the place. Our room was lovingly decorated, spacious enough and felt very airy yet cozy. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and new. The owner is very accommodating and went out of his way to let us know where to go and what to do. We felt like we were staying with a friend and were sad to leave.

The bathroom was very small, however not a massive issue. Was only a fan in the room (no AC) which could be an issue in the warmer months.
The location was very good in order to get to the historic centre. Also nearby a supermarket which comes in handy as each room comes with a share kitchen area for breakfast. Otto the owner is very accommodating and although doesn’t speak much English, does he very best to make sure you know where to go and what to do. The property is very secure and comes with a gate.

Overall everything was nice. but we couldn't keep food in the bedroom because of ants. Also, it would be nice to have a few more cooking utensils in the kitchen.
This pousada is very well located, away from tourist roads in a quiet road. Our stay felt very homely. Both Sandra and Otto are very lovely and made sure we were very comfortable. there is also a kitchen we can use for meals.

Not a single thing
Everything! The room is super clean, 3 minutes walk from the center. The decoration makes you feel in a real brazilian house, very minimal and beautiful! You can use a small kitchen for coffee and breakfast. The hosts were extremely responsive to my questions and were always checking on me. The best part of it all is the ladies who work and live there. They made me feel like home
