Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaCan’t think of anything that could be done to improve our experience at the hotel.
Great hotel that was very clean and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Great selection of restaurants near by that serve very good breakfast.

CanadaMy recent stay at Alt hotel was thoroughly enjoyable. The room was clean and quiet and featured modern decor. The bed was especially comfortable. The hotel’s location was ideal, and the underground parking was both convenient and spacious. Architecturally, the hotel boasted a well-designed structure with an aesthetically pleasing interior. Additionally, the staff were friendly and attentive that made my stay feel personalized and welcoming. This hotel certainly made my visit memorable and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort and style.

CanadaI would have liked a larger room and bathroom. Was difficult to have more than one person at a time in any area other than the bed....
I liked that the Hotel and rooms were modern. The bed was comfy and the large windows were perfect to enjoy the river in the distance.

CanadaI liked everything about the hotel except I hope I did not have to pay extra for the parking.
The room and the hotel were very clean, the bed very comfortable. It is a new hotel so everything is nice. I liked the quiet location in the new University District. I could walk safely on my own on the streets in the evening - I went to the skating park nearby. Save On Foods is just across the street for getting snacks and beverages. The staff was very friendly.

CanadaError on the Hotels part, but they charged me. In most cases if and error occurs they are supposed to tell you, not surprise you with an extra bill at the end of your stay.... saying oops we screwed up gave you the room at a discounted price but now going to charge you and make you think it was discounted! It's not a discount if you charge the person again the next day!

CanadaWhile my stay at the ALT Hotel in Calgary had many positives, it was marred by two middle-of-the-night fire alarms due to a burst pipe in extremely cold weather. The lack of communication during these incidents, particularly at the marshal point and regarding when it was safe to return to our rooms, was disappointing. Additionally, the absence of any gesture, like a discount, to acknowledge the inconvenience caused was notable.
My recent stay at the ALT Hotel in Calgary's university district was exceptionally pleasing; I would recommend this hotel for several key reasons: Prime Location: The hotel's proximity to essential amenities significantly enhanced my stay. It is near a mall, providing easy access to various shopping options. Additionally, its closeness to the university is perfect for visitors attending events or meetings in the academic sphere. Vibrant Surroundings: The hotel is nestled in a lively area, surrounded by a rich selection of coffee shops and restaurants. This diversity offered a delightful culinary journey, catering to different tastes and preferences right at my doorstep. Convenient Access to Downtown: The hotel's location offers seamless connectivity to downtown Calgary. This was particularly beneficial for culinary explorations, art events and exploring the city's core, making it an excellent choice for business and leisure travellers. Quality of Accommodation: Beyond its prime location, the hotel provided a comfortable and pleasant stay. The rooms were well-appointed, clean, and equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a relaxing and hassle-free experience. Service Excellence: The staff at the ALT Hotel were welcoming and professional, contributing significantly to the overall positive experience. Their attentiveness and dedication to guest satisfaction were evident throughout my stay.

CanadaNeeded to keep a room key in the holder for power to the room including the drawer style fridge. Some cleaning staff left it in others removed it causing fridge to turn off.
Hotel is new, convenient location, walkable to the University of Calgary pool, and Market Mall. Grocery store across the street & various restaurants nearby.

CanadaThere was no breakfast included (although I did book it with breakfast included through booking.com) since the hotel is so new that the restaurant was not up and running yet. That made the stay quite pricey.
It’s brand new and the rooms were very stylish and modern.

CanadaFor a hotel aiming for the boutique feel, it was interesting that no ceramic mugs were provided in the rooms -- just paper cups. Having tea as a beverage option would have been nice, as this is what I'm used to seeing in other hotels (fancy and not fancy). The cool-looking chair in the corner of the bedroom is really just a chair-shaped sculpture.
Since all of my meetings were at / near the University of Calgary, this was a great location. It was also convenient to have a supermarket across the street when I didn't feel like having restaurant food again or just wanted some tea bags. The staff were kind enough to bring me a kettle when I requested it. Room/bathroom are beautifully designed.
