Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNothing the hostel could control, but in a dorm you have to expect some snoring, and some guests are not respectful of others, ie, talking loudly on the phone at 5:30 AM and letting your alarm clock run on for 30 seconds and turning the ceiling light on very early in the morning, ie 6:00 AM when all the others are still sleeping.
Breakfast was good, very good coffee, there was always a shower available, privacy curtains adequate, staff very friendly and helpful, good supply of towels and supplies in the shower, despite the notes you read in the "what I did not like" I would still stay there again, good value for the dollar

LithuaniaThe beds are not good - every move you make while lying down is making a huge noise, and you cannot even sit. The doors also are loud. The rooms were very small.
Breakfast was nice. The staff was very friendly, nice atmosphere. The location is great too, in Kensington market. The common areas are really nice and cosy, with books and smart TV.

CanadaMattress was terrible. Room next to men's bathroom and the closer on the door made it slam. Could be adjusted so less noise when closing.
Location, clean room and shared facilities, basic breakfast, quiet AC and staff. Also pillows were better than expected. Price for Toronto was a little more affordable than other options

CanadaWhile my stay was generally pleasant, there were a few aspects that could be improved. Each floor has only two showers, which often resulted in long queues. Additionally, some guests left their dirty towels in the shower room without a designated basket for disposal. It would be helpful if the staff included a rule asking all guests to keep the bathroom and shower facilities clean and tidy for others. Furthermore, it would be beneficial to implement a system to prevent the air conditioning from being turned off in the middle of the night, especially during a heatwave.
I thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and engaging atmosphere created by the staff. The complimentary breakfast from 8-10 am not only helps save on an extra dining expense but also provides an excellent opportunity to socialize with fellow travelers. The establishment has clear rules, which are thoughtfully provided in writing for easy reference. Any minor issues are addressed promptly by the attentive staff. Upon arrival, we received a key card that grants access to the building, the staircase, the floor, and our room. This multi-layered security made me feel extremely safe and worry-free throughout my stay.

BelgiumThe curtains around the beds aren't installed well and the supports are wonky and flimsy. The bed was comfortable, but climbing onto the top bunk felt very precarious. The bunkbeds are cheaply constructed and when climbing up the ladder, the whole bed moves significantly and feels like it's going to fall apart.
Nice and generous continental breakfast. Building is well maintained, with comfortable shared spaces for working in/relaxing in. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A pretty good hostel! The staff were all friendly, the whole facilities were kept super clean, I felt secure with the card key. I had to get something done and was able to stay in the common room until 2am using wifi. They even provided a quick breakfast, which I liked it!

FranceKitchen was closed for refurbishment which was a shame. Shower rooms were a bit run down for the amount of people using them, beds were comfortable enough but quite squeaky on the top bunk bed.
Fabulous location in a very cool neighborhood, easy to get to downtown Toronto and attractions within about 30 minutes. Breakfast was good, just some coffee, cereals and bagels but a nice option. Price was ok, it was as expected for the value.

United StatesBooking men in an advertised all female dorm. The worst guest was a guy from India who started talking loudly on the phone about 7:00am. It didn't seem to bother him when we all woke up and gave him the stink eye.
The staff and guests were friendly and polite. Until they started putting men in our dorm. I did book an all female room, so this was shocking.

CanadaThe bathrooms could have been cleaner. The price is a little pricier for a hostel. The area is good in the day, but solo travelling as girls, we would be cautious at night.

United StatesNo elevators. The breakfast room was hard to find. The outlets were at the same level as when you slept, so you hit them while sleeping. There are no side tables to keep your stuff on in your sleeping area.

Hong KongThe bed I stayed in on the first night looked like someone had slept in it but it had not been cleaned. A water bottle also left on the bed. I told the staff but they only agreed to clean the bed for me in the morning. Unfortunately they also didn't clean the my bed the next day either.

PortugalLocation. Although there are restaurants nearby, there’s a lot of homeless people. Supermarkets are far away, and it’s 30 minute walking from the city center. Also there’s no place inside the building with comfortable seats to chill. Tables, chairs and wooden couch are very uncomfortable. No elevator with 4 floors was a bit uncomfortable as well.
