How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nicola and Paul are wonderful hosts; they are so very friendly and will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are always spotlessly clean; the beds are comfortable (which is always my worry) and the bedding always feels and smells fresh. The breakfasts are marvellous with an excellent choice which Nicola will happily 'tweak' to your requirements should you need it. We have stayed here several times and will continue to return here again and again! Fabulous!!!!!

Tiny thing but found the shower base slippery. A light over the bathroom mirror would have been good.

It could do perhaps with a fan in the room. It was very warm and the window open meant that it was quite noisy with the road outside. But this absolutely didn’t ruin our stay. Just a minor detail.
It was a lovely, personal welcome from Paul, the room was nicely done and it was very clean. We felt welcome and comfortable to ask if we had any queries.

Nothing could have been better. Property is on main road so there was a little noise from traffic as people started their day, but not noisy overnight.
Easy to find . Lovely hosts. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds. Great hot shower. Breakfast freshly cooked and delicious. Hosts very knowledgeable and helpful, would recommend.

The owners were fantastic - great sense of humour and very accommodating. I stayed for one night because of attending a wedding close by. The next morning I needed to set off too early for breakfast. I was offered the possibility of bacon and egg sandwiches to take on the road with me to ensure I ate something, which I appreciated and enjoyed! The room had everything I needed (and more), was super clean and the bed was one of the most comfy beds I've slept in for some years.

Paul was very helpful and friendly during our stay, and even gave us some places to go for a drink during our one-night visit in Alford. Very comfortable night's sleep in a cosy room, and the breakfast was cooked to perfection. Absolutely top value for money. Thank you very much!

Can't think of anything and even if there was something I wouldn't say anything as so much was good there.
Very good hospitality. The place is clean and smart with many little extras. The owners do a good job of looking after the visitors, which comes naturally which is nice. The all round service was top notch and breakfast was superb.

Can’t fault it
It was very welcoming and the owners were very friendly. Breakfast was great, there was different choices on their menu but nothing was too much trouble if you wanted something different.

We liked everything. The hosts are lovely and the breakfast was fit for a king. Plenty of off road parking and close to a local supermarket. Easy to find and when we did the hosts met us in the carpark with a smile.

Really lovely, we were greeted on arrival and were quickly shown to our rooms. Everything was so well kept and clean/tidy. The room was cosy (the bed was really comfortable) and had everything you could need in terms of wifi, water, tea/coffee and other bits. Breakfast in the morning was also fab. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Really exceeded expectations and great value for money.

Limited facilities in the town because of the time of year. Not much Nicola and Paul could do about that!
