On arrival June welcomed us with our dog and explained the area and gave us a map of the city. Excellent quiet location, very well presented, all the property is very clean, room was very clean, excellent choices at breakfast and staff Faye and Chantil were very attentive.

Ascot house is a lovely base to visit York city, about a 10 min walk into the center. The beds we're very comfy, rooms well equipped . The breakfast was absolutely spot on, using all local produce, filled you up . Staff, all very pleased that couldn't do enough for you. A wholesome lovely place to stay

Friendly, welcoming. Bedding was lovely and fluffy, bedroom spotless. Lovely beverages and biscuits. Spoilt for choice when it came to breakfast. Ideally place to leave the car in their carpark and head into town.

There was nothing we disliked

We chose one of the superior double rooms on the first floor specifically for the walk in shower. The shower room was exceptional and spotlessly clean, as was the bedroom itself with its very comfy bed. The owner also very kindly allowed us to leave our car in the car park for a few hours on the morning of our departure while we took the bus into York for some sightseeing.

Parking was tight but with my small car it was ok.

Beautiful period property with loads of character. Our room was cosy and had everything we could need. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was lovely and attentive. Parking was a massive plus. The walk to town is not bad at all and local shop and restaurants were great. I would stay again! Loved check in at 1 pm.

Lovely welcome, beds very comfortable, warm, excellent breakfast, android TV so all your on-demand services. Right next to a lovely little park for walking our dog. Took about just under 30 mins to walk in to the city walls or I'm sure you could get a bus from outside

If I had to be picky, the quality of the sausage and bacon could have been better but there were plenty of other things to choose from at breakfast.

I really liked this hotel and would stay again. The room was great, very clean and modern. The bathroom and shower were excellent. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room and even cotton wool balls were supplied if you needed them. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. Good and quiet location. Short walk to centre of York.

Everything was great, if and this is a big IF I was to begrudge anything, it would be the short walk into the city, although it was still easy enough.

Very easy to find and free parking on site. June was very friendly on arrival and a very helpful and lovely lady. The hotel was old fashioned and beautiful, and then once entering the room it was clean, spacious and modern, we stayed in the top room with a velux window situated low down, a great touch putting a small armchair to sit in next to this window. Breakfast was one of best I’ve had in a long time, plenty of choice, cereal, croissants etc but we had the full English both mornings; served by warm and very helpful staff/cooks. I’d highly recommend staying here!

The hotel is lovely; clean, quiet and perfect for a visit to historic York, which is only 15 minutes walk away. Great that there is off-street parking and the breakfast offering was superb. We would definitely recommend
