    Fantastic stay ♡

When we arrived in our room there was a lucozade bottle and chocolate wrapper pushed between the lower bunk matress and wall and what looked like 'snot' smeared near the pillow area. Wasn't too much of an issue - removed rubbish and wiped down wall with a wipe. Didn't complain as so happy with literally everything else and once dealt with it didn't cause an issue.

Having stayed in many B&Bs in Blackpool, the Big Blue Hotel is by far the best place I have stayed. Every aspect of our stay was made easy. We were given a room upgrade on arrival - my daughter loved the additional kids room with bunks, bed lights, TVs, PlayStation and giant slides and coasters game. The room was perfect, beds super comfy, breakfast delicious and plentiful. Private access to Pleasure Beach and luggage holding room was a big bonus for us accessing the fair on our final day. Staff were so professional and kind - nothing was too much trouble. Don't think I could stay anywhere else after staying at The Big Blue. Loved it.

Nice, conveniently located hotel let down by variable service

Variable service levels. Communication with the hotel about the booking was met with blunt emails directing me to Booking.com which was rude and unhelpful. Contrary to the warm welcome that the receptionist gave us on arrival, and their efficiency at check out. The bigger issue came at breakfast because the waiting staff stalked the room, putting pressure on you to finish, whipping plates away whilst people (including children) were still eating, and knocking water over us on one occasion in their speed to clear the table. Only one of the five members of staff bothered to ask if something was done with before taking it. On our last morning we only had to stand up for three staff members to sweep in to clear the table, handing children and adults their things, literally nudging us away from the table despite nobody waiting for it. It was a ridiculous experience, repeated every morning and, in a town with so many hotels, including higher end ones like this one, it was more than enough to persuade us to stay elsewhere next time.

The hotel is located next to the Pleasure Beach and offers VIP access for guests which was a lovely bonus. The room was comfortable and very clean. There was fidelity to branding throughout the hotel - mints on reception, coffee sachets, stickers on toilet rolls etc - which was a nice touch. We looked out onto the park with some of the rollercoaster tracks just metres from the window, but there was no noise whilst we were in the room. There is a sizeable restaurant and a smaller bar which got full each night of our stay. The breakfast had a reasonable selection of hot and cold options, prepared and cooked well, along with juice and coffee machines. The evening bar and restaurant staff were very friendly. There is a car park but it was very busy during our stay. It was expensive compared to local Council car parks e.g. South Beach just a few minutes walk away.

Parking is a bit expensive if you park on site, so we parked elsewhere.

A fabulous room, great big bed, nice seating area and spacious bathroom. Well placed for Blackpool Pleasure Beach and South Pier. Our room looked out directly into the park so we could watch all the rollercoasters coming past - but couldn't really hear them at all.

    We loved everything

Stuart on reception was exceptional. He needs to be hotel manager. He is clearly naturally amazing at hospitality and an asset to the business. The hotel smelt amazing in every corner, was immaculately clean, every staff member was beyond pleasant, and the room was beautiful. It was my partners birthday and I sent a request for a birthday card and was given an upgrade free of charge to the kings suite. You made his birthday the best he’s ever had. Its gestures like that which make people’s memories extra special. Thank you so much for our stay. There is a reason this hotel has the reviews it has. Very well earned.

My husband had a medical issue during our stay and the staff, especially Ryan, couldn’t have been more helpful - first aid treatment, change of rooms, breakfast room service. The rooms are very well designed with those extra touches that make a difference - flannels, iron, etc Large car park, tram stop across the road. Would highly recommend.

I think chef was having an off night as some of our food was not at 4* standard but to be fair it was very busy and good value for money.

Complimentary room upgrade was much appreciated and the hotel layout and staff attitude was very good. The bar area well set out with the outside patio tables in the sunshine a nice bonus and the bar and restaurant staff very friendly and quick. The hotel's proximity to the promenade, beach and south pier a major plus of course. Bed was very comfortable but shower could do with a grab handle to avoid slipping when getting in and out of the bath to access the excellent power shower ... not as agile as I used to be! Secure ANPR car park very handy and not too expensive at £18 for 24hrs. Look forward to staying again :) !

Paying for the parking is a bit expensive, but I guess it’s just one of those things.

My wife is coeliac, and the hotel staff paid exceptional attention to detail with regards to this.Gluten free bread, sausages, cereals, all available for breakfast, and substitutions made for dinner dishes and deserts.Food is of a very high quality, and great selection of drinks.
