We didn’t eat in the restaurant for dinner because it was too expensive. The choices of places to eat around Bodmin of an evening were limited (which I appreciate is not the fault or responsibility of the hotel), however we walked to find a family pub close by. If this review shows photos please disregard- these are not of the venue, were randomly added to my review, I have tried to delete but Booking.com seem unable to remove them.

Worth asking about the museum tour- you get a reduced price if you are a hotel guest. The hotel building is stunning and has retained a lot of the original features. Great selection of food for breakfast and we appreciated the free minibar in the room. So cosy and comfortable, and the bathroom was extremely clean with lovely toiletries and a freestanding bath- which is not a detail you see very often! Oh, and how can I forget the complimentary box of chocolates welcoming us to the room!

The events programme was constrained. The bar closed very early and Bodmin doesn't exactly scream of entertainment.

Amazing, what a great idea was built in the 1700 as a prison closed in 1927 and left in disrepair. Giving a rebirth as a museum and Hotel. The place is amazing it pays homage to the past, and the reconstruction blends in seamlessly. The rooms are 3 old cells combined and tastefully done. Breakfast was silver service and excellent. In the rooms the mini bar is commentary. Just walking around and taking in the history is worth the stay. Great staff and service. Stay here if you can.

When booking through Booking.com, we assumed it would be exactly the same as if you were booking directly with Bodmin Jail where you get free entry to the main attraction but we was told it was not included when we got there. It wasn’t a deal breaker as we still had a lovely stay but that would have been a bonus.

It was a great place. Very clean and tidy and a beautiful building. For me, the bathroom was the best room. A lovely bath to relax in at the end of a busy day exploring Cornwall.

The restaurant is quite expensive, so we had to go to a local pub for dinner which is a shame as we wanted to spend our whole time there.

This was a once in a lifetime birthday treat for me. I have always loved Bodmin Jail and have visited many times, and having the chance to stay there was just amazing. It is pricey, but completely worth it.

The restaurant with the menu that appealed to us was closed during the whole of our stay. Although we were able to request food from its menu,there wasn't enough choice for more than one meal. We therefore had to go elsewhere outside the hotel to eat after the first night.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel with my son, and it turned out to be one of our most memorable weekends. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Nina, Holley, and Abbe, whose exceptional service truly made our experience special. They are undoubtedly the backbone of this establishment, and their attention to detail ensured that both my son and I felt incredibly valued and taken care of. The hotel itself was immaculate and welcoming. While I found the food offerings to be a bit on the pricey side, the quality was undeniable, and it did little to diminish the overall value of our stay. This hotel is perfectly located for venturing out into the beautiful parts of Cornwall, making it an ideal spot for travelers looking to explore the area. I highly recommend room 206; it was spacious and beautifully furnished, providing a comfortable haven after our daily adventures. We truly hope to revisit soon and once again enjoy the exceptional hospitality provided by Nina, Holley, and Abbe. If you're planning a trip to Cornwall, this hotel should definitely be on your list!
