It was a stay that i needed to be away for some peace. It ticked all the boxes, could not of asked for more.

It would have been helpful to have had instructions on how yo use the coffee machine. The pillows, they were a little 'lumpy', but everything else was fantastic!

The hotel had a lovely ambiance. The communal areas were lovely, including the outdoor areas.

I found the room cool and the thermostat did not seem to work, however when I spoke to reception they were able to adjust remotely. Nothing else comes to mind

Location was perfect, a little stroll into town so was quiet at night. The room was small but comfortable which was what I paid for. The pictures did not do the property justice as it is actually much prettier. Lots to do in York and all within walking distance. The staff were informative and lovely, helping in any way they can. Special shout out to Karine on reception who was just wonderfully helpful.

The checking in should run smoothly and they should know what the quest have already paid for. Taking to long to check in

I was questioned about paying my breakfast. I told them when i phoned that i paid my breakfast with my booking. When i arrived. They kept saying i need to pay for breakfast when i told them i already paid. They need to check thier system when checking people in and out. I had the same problem when checking out.

The air con is very loud and makes a beeping noise every couple of minutes when it’s on, which kept me up through the night

It was gorgeous. The interior is stunning, the staff were so lovely. The little garden and terrace area to have a drink in is lovely. We felt so at home.

Because it’s 10 minutes out it means the bar and restaurant are quite , so not much atmosphere to encourage dining/ drinking

There was nothing too bad. However I must mention my encounter with the hotel on the morning I checked into the hotel. I tried to walk into the breakfast room (I was not having breakfast) to inform my colleagues that our pick-up transport had arrived and was waiting outside. I was verbally attacked by, I believe, a senior member of their team. Maybe a manager/chef. He kept telling me to sit outside which I refused to do. I was treated like a naughty child. Then he was expressing his anger with the receptionist, saying and I quote. “The breakfast room is not a meeting room” I honestly thought I had walked onto a sketch of Faulty Towers. It was incredible. Personally I have never known anything like it ever before!!

It was a convenient location with car-parking spaces available.

Our rooms were in what felt like a modern extension which has its pros and cons - rooms very modern and our rooms looked out onto a not very inspiring, unpretty car park and road but it was very quiet at least and not too much of an issue - the old building does make you think it will like that throughout but it isn’t.

It was a peaceful oasis from the bustling streets of York - 10 minute walk from most places of interest - not right in the middle but also easy to access to the station. Garden was beautiful and impeccably maintained

The only thing we didn’t like was the tapas dinner menu it was the only thing to eat in the evening, I feel that there should be a choice, couldn’t even get a sandwich, this for us let the hotel down a little.

Hotel was beautiful such a lovely building and gardens, very convenient for city, staff were friendly and very helpful, we would definitely stay again
