How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

One of the bunk beds on the bottom was visibly bowing in the middle and the bed frame had cracked slightly. On one of the top bunks the screws holding it together were loose and the ladders were not attached to the beds. Also some of the plug sockets didn’t work
The room was basic but did the job for us for the short time we stayed. Most of the beds were comfy and the cleaner that we had spoken to was very friendly

Couldn’t get the shower to go hot but it was 3am so maybe no hot water then?
Good location, near airport and great Italian Restaurant opposite. Comfortable bed and good en-suite.

Kettle was soo slow...but worked in the end. Nothing important.
Perfect for flying early the following morning. Self-checking, no contact with any staff. Basic room but clean.

The bathroom light kept switching off even while I was inside the bathroom - seems the sensitivity/timer on the sensor of that light needs reviewing (Room 10). And I couldn't find the WiFi password in the room and so didn't use the free WiFi. It would be nice if a breakfast option could be offered in future. But these weren't big factors, I only mention them to help provide feedback.
I liked that the guest house as it offered self-check in as I arrived very late (22h45) and still managed to find my room. I was also able to find fresh milk and water in downstairs fridge which were most appreciated and the room was comfortable and shower was nice and hot!

The front door to the main guest house is left unlocked overnight.
The room was clean and comfortable, and it was a short drive from Bristol city centre.

Property not staffed after hours , so when fire alarm went off. I had to inform the owner and turn off the alarm under his instructions.Room felt small for a single room.

I was chilly as the heating wouldn't come on. That said, they did provide me with a portable electric heater for the rest of my stay. They had a recurring electrical fault which kept tripping out the lights and bathroom fan so didn't have a shower on my final morning before returning home. Generally the place could do with some remedial work and they shouldn't let their green credentials negatively impact the comfort of guests. Turn the heating up! The TV's need to have better reception too.

We tried to play a board game in the seating area outside our room but the motion-senser light kept turning off & there was no switch to keep the light on which was very frustrating

By the road so could be noisy when open the window. Only provide 2 pillows, wouldn't provide me more upon request.
The location is 6 mins from my office at winterstoke road which is great. Considering the price £65 per night I don't expect much from the guest house. Simple and small room for one person. Coffee etc is generous

Arrived late due to car trouble and found the heating and hot water are only available at certain times so the room felt chilly. In the morning the room was warm but I got no hot water, presumably the early risers had used it up. Gave up on a shower after 10 minutes of running the water.

It would have been useful to have the name of the bus stop I needed in the information.
Location is excellent, right next to an airport bus stop, the petrol station across the road is well stocked with a mini supermarket for meals, snacks, drinks, etc. The room was basic but good enough for what I needed. The price was right considering the high prices of Bristol city centre. I needed to stay Saturday night in Bristol as BR had cancelled all the early Sunday trains to Bristol.
