Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot an issue for us but not within walking distance to main attractions and didn’t have cooking facilities.
Everything was fantastic. The property itself is beautifully decorated and really comfortable. Fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurts, cereals, milk, orange juice etc brought in every day. Short drive to Penzance, Minack Theatre and beautiful beaches.

United KingdomWe loved everything! My partner and I have spoken at length as to if there was anything we would have liked or could have been improved and the only thing we could think of was having an extra lamp in the window corner as it got a bit dark in the evenings without one.
John was incredibly warm and welcoming. It was really quickly apparent why he is so highly rated here. A selection of pastries and treats were left for us everyday when we arrived back from our outings. Very clean and tidy with all the toiletries you would need in the bathroom. Smart TV to enjoy whatever you choose and a huge and comfy bed, didn't want to leave! Beautiful location, feels like you're out in the country yet only a short drive to Penzance. Couldn't recommend it more highly, thank you!!

United KingdomAbsolutely faultless.
John & Louise are the most hospitable hosts. Beautiful accommodation, cereals, pastries, local bread, orange juice, tea & coffee all provided for breakfast each day with additional surprise treats such as cheese, pate, gin & tonics provided on return. We wish we had booked to stay longer. We love the location too with a much valued parking space. We will definitely return and will be recommending Bryher Cottage to family & friends.

United KingdomThere really was nothing not to like about this accommodation.
a lot of thought has gone into this accommodation as an Airbnb attached to the owners cottage. Large room with seating area, large comfortable bed, small kitchen area and lovely shower room. Excellent self-serve breakfast. Lovely host who welcomed us and visited when we were ready to leave. Goodie bag available for us to take a danish pastry/fruit with us for our onward journey. Beautifully decorated by local tradesmen.

United KingdomOnly problem we had and it was probably us being hopeless, was we couldn't find live TV channels, only BBC, so I watched a few things on my phone, other than that no complaints at all.
One of the best. We can heartily recommend staying here, everything you can possibly need is provided, even a bottle of cava on arrival and a souvenir gift on departure. The breakfast is more than enough and is replenished every day.The location is handy for visiting the popular areas, especially The Minack theatre, which is why we chose to stay there. 5 stars...

United KingdomNothing we didn't like. It was perfect.
This property really has the WOW factor. A wonderful mixture of traditional and contemporary. The property has been recently built to the highest quality, no expense spared (the Eygptian cotton sheets were noted). Oak from floor to ceiling, huge very comfortable bed, sitting room area, smart TV, compact but well equiped (and stocked) kitchenette and walk in shower room. There is a private couryard garden availble with the property too, eating breakfast in there is a delightful way to start the morning. The property was spotlessly clean. A little treat was to find little gifts left for us: a fresh fruit bowl, artisan baked bread, a mini fridge stuffed with fresh, local produce, Danish pastries. All miraculously replenished upon our return. The propriator was friendly and very helpful in making us feel welcome. He was not intrusive but yet always on hand if needed. Very accomodating (we arrived nearly 2 hours earlier than anticipated) but it was not an issue. We had visited the area 5 years ago and knew that parking was a premium, so it was very good to have an off road parking space. Did I mention the louvre windows in the roof with blinds you could open from a switch next to the bed, you could see the stars. A great location in the village of Paul just up the hill from the picturesque seaside village of Mousehole. A treasure of a place to stay. we enjoyed every minute.

Everything was perfect, the cottage was spacious, modern and lacked nothing. You can always tell when a host takes absolute pride in making your stay as memorable and enjoyable as possible and John was no exception. Just the little things and attention to detail makes this accommodation a standout, the continental breakfast was plentiful and varied each day and always when we returned from our daily adventures a little surprise was waiting for us. From biscuits and cheese to a bottle of sparkling wine or a Gin and tonic.if I could give Bryher cottage an 11 it would not be an exaggeration.
