Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe can't think of anything we did not like.
Friendly and professional staff helped us with transportation and ensured a comfortable stay. Room service prepared a lovely in room meal for us. Well appointed room, bath outfitted with safety features like non skid tub floor and grab bars. We loved the cookies and fudge in our room, what a nice touch!

United StatesEverything was wonderful
We loved the location. Easy walk over to restaurants and parks. Not far walk to Buckingham Palace and Churchills War Museum. Loved St. James Park as well. Great little pub right down the street and enjoyed dinner at Sexy Fish. Also, enjoyed the Friday night live piano music and drinks.

United KingdomEvening meal was expensive but probably to be expected from this type of property. We both chose lamb from the menu which was cold when served. A sauce came in a separate container which was hot but we didn’t like it and so did not add this to our dish so the lamb remained cold. Gluten free bread was average. There is a bloomer type option on the market which would have better reflected the high standard this hotel.
Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Well presented hotel. Average size room, comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities. Good choice of breakfast options which were cooked to order. Evening meal standard option choices, average portions. Gluten free bread was available on request

United StatesThe bathroom is very small and the door is hung so it blocks sink access unless you shut the door. The mattress had a significant depression on the right side.

AustraliaRoom is slightly on the small side, or maybe it's because the bed was very big (we had the superior king room). We had to stow away our luggages everyday to have enough space to navigate the room - kindly what we expected for London though.
The service at Chesterfield was exceptional, everyone was so helpful and we had a few good chats with the staff. The hotel was conveniently located just close enough to major attractions but far enough from the chaos in a very upscale neighbourhood. Will definitely be back again if we are back in London!

United StatesThe Chesterfield is our go to hotel in London. We love the Mayfair location. The staff is excellent and, amazingly enough, remembered us from our stay two years ago. This time they gave us The music Room, which is gorgeous.

AustraliaThe Chesterfield charmed us from the moment we arrived and the staff were warm and responsive in every respect. We took two rooms for five nights and the hotel was a welcome sanctuary after mad days out. The rooms are quintessentially English and the Mayfair location was perfect for our time in London. A cosy bar with John the piano player adds to the romance.

AustraliaWe weren’t told at check in that there would be a £15 per day charge for staff tips on check out. It was an optional fee but made it a bit embarrassing at check out.

United StatesThe only thing that we would have changed was potentially reserving a larger room because the shower was a bit small however, the The room we had was sufficient for our space and we did like the long counter and desk style that provided plenty of space for us to put our belongings. As someone who has long hair, I would recommend getting better blow dryers in the room. Otherwise, it was very charming hotel that reminded us of an old England style, which is exactly what we were looking for in our first time to London.
The overall stay was outstanding. The staff was excellent and went above and beyond all expectations. The ambience and decor were classic old English, which is exactly what we were looking for. The drinks were excellent, and we loved the pianist in the bar. The menu in the restaurant was extensive and the breakfast was outstanding.
