It’s quirky, mix of an old and new property … which some people may like, others may not … we did not mind With a little more focus on how the house works when you stay there, and a bit more focus on cleanliness - this would be 10 out of 10 - but don’t let that stop you booking it …

Location is lovely, and with good weather would be a haven given the grounds and countryside views. Well equipped for a family stay, dog loved it, and the beds were comfy, showers pretty good. Would stay there again for sure - especially in the Spring / Summer Scott was great and responsive to any issues we had & their coffee shop next-door a very handy addition

I am literally at a loss to think of anything that could have been better. The sun even came out on the morning of our stay after rain the previous day!

Scott, our host was so helpful and friendly. He sent excellent directions and was there to meet us on arrival. He made our girls hot chocolate and brought over a coffee from his cafe next door. He made sure we were settled in and had everything we needed. The house was literally like a home away from home.

This is a fantastic property in a great location. Loads of space to relax, a great home that I could easily live in. This is our second stay at the property, the host has always been available, communciates when necessary and is very supportive. Whenever we are in the area I would chose to stay if available.

    Nothing - it was perfect.

Cox Green Old School House is a real home from home. The view from the sitting room was stunning and we were made to feel very welcome by our host. The whole house is very comfortable and well-equipped. We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful location. The location is perfect for visiting lots of different local attractions but a walk to the top of Penshaw Monument is an absolute must if you are able. We will definitely be returning.

A great stay but we found the kitchen a little bit lacking in equipment e.g. no tea towels, shortage of tea plates and cups, no sharp knives and not really designed to cook in. Luckily we didn't need to but just for future reference especially if 6 people are staying.

The house is beautifully appointed, very comfortable and in a great location. The host was very friendly and helpful and we'd love to come back in the spring or summer.

The house is amazing with spectacular views over to the Penshaw monument. 3 large comfortable double bedrooms and a relaxing living room again with great views. It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, but only minutes from the A19 which is perfect to explore further afield. We had a booking at the Sunderland Empire theatre, only 15 mins drive. The owner Scott was welcoming and quick to answer any questions, also gave information about places to eat locally (we need to come back to try them all).

Host has it just fine - not into giving any negative feedback. If I don't like the property I don't review.

Excellent property - ideal for a family visiting the area. Roomy and peacful, will definitelty consider going back if in the area and available. Wish I could have stayed longer but work was the order of the day. Love the view of the Penshaw Monument.

Unfortunately the hot water upstairs would not work. The TV is a smart TV but none of the functions can be used due to no wi-fi. Beds fairly uncomfortable. Property cold due to being old and no kindling for fires but was told heating would kick in. All cooking utensils etc, plates and glassware were filthy.

Beautiful cottage. Very nicely decorated. Lovely garden areas. Host responded to questions very efficiently and politely. Windows in dining and living areas very attractive. It was great to watch the horses playing outside too. Stunning views of monument.
