The location was superb, being very close to the national trail that we were walking. Breakfast was superb and so was the evening meal that the owner provided at very reasonable extra cost. This is by far the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in and was much better than the (more expensive) hotels we stayed in on the trail that week. The building was very recently renovated to a really high standard and in excellent taste.

Stylish, super clean, spacious rooms, quiet, comfy huge bed, great breakfast and dinner with plenty of drink choice. Anything I wanted was there and the owners are welcoming and have done a fabulous conversion of this amazing house it’s like a luxury hotel.

We were starting our hike of Hadrians Wall from Gilsland. The Dacre House was the perfect start. Beautiful room, very comfortable bed, great drinks and dinner and packed lunch to go was awesome. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This place is perfect. A beautiful building, luxurious rooms, supporting the community by using local produce... Hens in the garden! Great staff, too - a spot-on balance of friendliness and professionality. If I'm ever in this part of the world again, I will happilly come back.

This place was absolutely faultless.

The accommodation is absolutely stunning, warm and welcoming on our arrival. The decor is beautiful and immaculately clean. The hosts have paid a lot of attention to detail. Clare was equally warm and welcoming and could not do enough for us. I would highly recommend this place for a Northumberland break, it's also minutes walk from Hadrians Wall so fabulous location. We will definitely go back

Decor is beautiful, beautiful lounge and dining area with log burners giving a very cosey vibe. Honesty bar in dining area is such a good idea. Room was beautiful and very big, so comfortable and had a great nights sleep. We didn’t have an evening meal but breakfast was beautiful with local products too. Hosts were very warm, welcoming and helpful. Would definitely return and recommend.

We were given a warm and friendly welcome by Clare, the owner. She asked us when we would like the meal that we had previously booked - nothing seemed too much trouble and timings were left very much up to us. The meal was home cooked, using local ingredients, and absolutely delicious. Our room was huge and luxurious, with an equally big (& very comfortable) bed and a large bathroom. The decor was both comfortable and gorgeous. We loved the bold colour schemes throughout.
